Your stance holds absolutely zero water. Louisiana has one of the strictest inspection regimens in the nation yet has some the highest car insurance rates.

Where is the benefit?

Also, other regional states, including all of the states that border Louisiana, have either abandoned inspection stickers outright or have heavily modified them to be less cumbersome and/or more sensical.

Louisiana just wants that $10/year per vehicle and that is ALL it's about.

Go to a Benny's or someplace like that where it's kids who don't give a shite. If you go to one of the old man family outposts that only do stickers they'll never pass you.

Go about 5 minutes before close on a Friday to a Benny's and the kid will pass you. I've done it before.

The shell station on College Drive right by the interstate is by far the most lenient and fast inspection sticker I've ever gotten

I got them to change their policy and provide remedial training to a couple of motor vehicle stations in less than 24 hours.

Worked for me....

If you think paying money to the state for them just to put a sticker on your window keeps you safe, good for you.

In fact, I bet they would be open to you donating more of your money to them to keep everyone else safe too. They take donations as far as I know.

Doesn't work. Still plenty of crap cars on the BR roadways that have no business being on them and no damn way they can pass an inspection.

That's cause they all go to the Shell station on College near the interstate.

just a money grab anyway.

Yeah, now offering extra safe two year tags so you don't even have to have your car "inspected." So you are paying double so you don't have to have your car "inspected" for "safety" issues. Sounds safe.

If it's a minor crack now, it'll probably spread with flexing from cornering, uneven compression of the front wheels.
Better to swap out your windshield.

Last year I went to Burbank Tire. I have a crack in my windshield that runs the entire width of the glass. (rock damage).
But because the crack is not in my line of sight I've been able to get a sticker. However, they told me that starting this year, if the windshield crack is a certain length, regardless of vision, windshield would need to be replaced to get a sticker for '17.
They said this law has been on the books for a while but never really enforced.

Probably BS but worth checking into to avoid a ticket
Sounds like a money grab to me.
