I went back to the old St Jean apartments maybe a year ago. They actually look better since the flood. I believe they are mostly non Section 8 now.

I never understood how the government could qualify landlords fir Section 8 when their units were in decay. I’d inspect the heck out of these units to bd sure taxpayer dollars were going to quality housing and not run down properties.

Because it will be in decay sooner or later with section 8 renters regardless of owner,

As an amateur futurist, I missed the "blacks will flock to hookah lounges and spicy crab joints" prediction.

I'm losing my touch.

No body wants to say what the problem is.

We all know what the problem is.

No, it is not racism, food desert, unequal opportunities, or white privilege.

Many poor white, Latino, and Koreans that grow up poor. Guess what they rise out of poverty without committing crimes.

Until the race that is apart of the problem, comes to terms with it being a problem, nothing will change.

Hey, let’s just say it is racist.

I see units leased to regular tenants that fall into decay and then section 8 takes over.

Well if Sherwood and Coursey becomes the scare zone, then God save the rest of us.

Our Mayor and police chief had a press conference touting the decline in murders the first 4 months of the year.

Keep in mind that the decline was from the 3 highest murder totals in the history of the city in 2020, 2021 and 2022

The current number is still well above the historical average.

Welcome to the leftist mindset. Unnecessarily destroy something. Then proudly, without a hint of self-awareness, “celebrate” slightly fixing the problem you created.

They are like a kid that gets a 23 F average for a semester who then proudly celebrates “improving” to a 46 F average the next semester. Both are still failing grades. But a lesser degree of failure is an “accomplishment”.

Then again, who am I to criticize? They may have a brilliant strategy. Set woefully low expectations so that any modicum of success seems like a tremendous accomplishment

It’s BR they stack ghettos right next to decent stuff and eventually the ghetto swallows it all up.

You mean forcing peaceful areas to allow thugs to move in doesn't make the thugs peaceful?

Well, this is certainly new information to me!

EBR/BR zoning is a MAJOR part of the problem. They essentially give developers anything they want (for the right price). This is how you get a (inevitable to become) shithole apartment complex or strip mall built right next door to a decent neighborhood. You can watch it happen right now up and down Burbank.

If you go to many other cities/states you will find areas where the zoning is strictly enforced. Not surprisingly, many of those areas remain nice for decades
