I was on 610 in NOLA and a guy brake checked a car in an adjacent lane from me, and another car behind me turned on his red lights on his dash and grill and went after the brake checker. I guess he was a cop in an unmarked car.

Probably an undercover fireman. They have the same powers to arrest but can also arrest for arson and other fire related crimes where police can't.

How did I engage? I didn’t tail him or brake check him. He almost hit me so I honked at him, and then he decided I was in the wrong, and started doing BS to me. When the brake checking started, I just decided to go around him since I was driving faster than him anyways, and not deal with this BS. He was doing this in the passing lane. I didn’t go around him and start driving slow or didn’t brake check him. I’m getting away from the situation.

I was in the left lane slowing down to turn and a guy passed me on the right and honked. In that case I felt justified in honking back.

How so? For keeping the other drives behind me in mind, while I’m in the passing lane? I’m just trying to keep the traffic flowing in the left lane like it’s supposed to. I mean I was driving that way so the bozo that went crazy and was behind me, could go around me.
