Meanwhile, in other southern cities, their black police officers aren’t afraid to call out the bull crap.

Sounds like living off of the government titty and promoting single parent households is to blame. more failed democrat policies.

Going after the support of the hood. Easy Strategy

What a fricking POS this guy is.

I believe when people see communities struggling or rebuilding, people are naturally inclined to help that community when they see the community itself coming together to tackle a cause. This happens after every hurricane, flood, or other disaster all the time. People of communities work together and outside support always follows.

Of course, put the blame on something else. frick this. Under Kip Holden, crime was at least, mostly kept in certain areas, they worked to make sure it didn't branch out.
This might be the case to a degree, but it can be controlled.. But he lacks the man power because of all the people who quit when he was appointed the job.

Baby mamas spitting out babies for the government check and letting the kids run wild in the streets has steadily gotten worse since 1965 when LBJs government handouts started.
Government agencies such as Child Protection Services needs to remove kids from homes where these children are not being raised properly and baby momas checks need to be cut off.
When you think about it, how much more cruel and selfish can you get when your intentions are to pop out babies you know you can`t care for so you don`t have to work and so you can live off the government checks.
It`s a complete disregard for human life to bring innocent children into the world for government checks.
The baby mama to career criminal pipeline needs to be shut off.

Not the case as late as 1964 for a certain group .... so how do you think the different rules for aid, loans, housing etc would play out over generations ?
So many barriers existed to acquire and build wealth, it's hardly surprising there is a cycle of poverty, crime and hardship with no real solution on our lifetime.
Ok. I will play!
Why do these people continue to vote for the same political party that promoted all of this and more? Paul represents that same political party today, and was hired by one of the worst leaders BR has ever had. BTW, she is part of that same party.
One of the core tenants of that party is to not accept blame and deflect failure. Looks like he has learned well from his masters.

In other words he is blaming Lyndon Baines Johnson which is really where the blame lies. Looking at the rise in absent fathers since his programs that rewarded fatherless households.

Everything you bitch about you voted for

The former chief was removed because he didn't look like the majority of the Baton Rouge citizens. Broome thought that putting a black man in the position would produce better results.
Baton Rouge is a den for crime under Broome's watch and Murphy Paul has done nothing to prove that he is making a difference. And now he's figured it out, huh?
I say, he should stand before a full-sized mirror and point his finger at the person who is helping prolong the crime woes of Baton Rouge. By blaming others, instead of the actual criminals and their parents, etc...he is giving the criminals "don't blame me" mentality.
He should be replaced with a better option.

Color me shocked.

More feelings and sensitivity training I needed. Sounds like Paul may have been yelled at by his dad, touched by an older uncle, or turned down by a girl for the prom and he has never really come to grips with it.

At some point, the “Why” no longer matters. There should still be consequences for breaking the law, regardless of the psychological “reasons.”
Posted on 3/24/23 at 8:40 am to Whosonfirst
So how have the vast majority of black boys who do not commit crimes and murder people been able to work through this?

More excuses.
There is no generational trauma.

He's not wrong.
The problem is the solution is always to demand more money for "programs" that are nothing more than political slush funds and only serve to exacerbate the problem. This is a cultural issue and no one wants to recognize the root cause.

Yea it’s really sad what BR has turned into the last 30-35 years.
It blows my mind when I come across videos or pictures from the late 80s and see different the city was in certain areas.
Of course we all know why so much of has deteriorated but I’m really not sure what can be done about it any of it now. Feels like it’s a lost cause. I know as soon as my daughter graduates high school I’m gone and won’t look back. Breaks my heart but there’s nothing worth staying for anymore. The crime is so ridiculously out of control and to see it defended by city leaders is sickening.

Present to me all of these dads that were fine upstanding citizens with no rap sheets getting locked up for no reason.
