quote:There are plenty of black management level LEO's who would make an excellent Chief of Police (for example, Henry Whitehorn in Shreveport). Since these LEO's know how to police, she won't hire them. She'll hire some brown-nosing shill who will further the decline of BR. The Mayor and Gary want a special type of law enforcement that doesn't work and which no qualified Chief would use.
I wonder what the Vegas odd would be on her hiring a white police chief?

Just a reminder of what these people really want
quote:
Gary Chambers, a black activist and vocal critic of the BRPD, said he's concerned about deeply pro-union views Daniels has expressed over the past several months. Chambers, who served on an advisory council on policing for Broome, said he'd be opposed to naming Daniels to the job for anything more than an interim basis.
"He's not progressive-minded, not willing to move the department where it needs to go," Chambers said. "I think he's a good guy but, with his current stances, I would not want to see him as chief of police."
Chambers said public comments from Broome during her campaign last fall gave him the impression that she would look beyond Baton Rouge "to find fresh eyes." He disputed the perception that black community advocates are dead-set on the hiring of an African American chief.

The fact that someone like Gary Chambers has any input into who the BR Chief will be is appalling. He has zero qualifications to have any input into the selection process.
I guarantee most black community advocates are dead-set on hiring a black Chief of Police.
ETA: My town is majority black with a black Mayor. Our mayor hired an excellent white Chief of Police. Why? Because he is not a race hack like Mayor Broome.

I recently read an article by a political scientist who claimed that ineffective law enforcement and high urban crime rates helped the Left with pushing their policies. The author posited that focus on crime and social issues assisted the Left in getting votes whereas low crime caused voters to look harder at economic policies which favors the Right. Very poli board stuff.

She settles for one out of two. Gets her new chief and follows through on the campaign promise, but doesn't push that Salamoni is to be fired.
Thus a compromise.
Thus a compromise.

Didn't even think about the Lake/Salamoni aspect of it. Sad to say, but they're gone.
I didn't think of that either. Although, I highly doubt either would ever work in law enforcement again, despite being 100% vindicated and performing their duties as they were trained. They were shite on so badly, I'd never want to wear a badge again either.

The same guy who demanded that not only there be a residency requirement but that police live in the same neighborhoods they patrol now demands the mayor to get a PC from Ohio, or California, or Tennessee, etc.
You just can't make this shite up.

I believe that most blacks are fed up with crime. Though I live in a smaller town, my view is consistent with what I hear locally. An increase in crime will undoubtedly fall the hardest on the black community.
The activists, loudmouths, panderers and politicians are an entirely different matter.

I remember Gravy saying he doesn't necessarily have to get a black chief of police to be happy. I can tell that is total bullshite because he and his posse only want black officers patrolling their neighborhoods. If they only want black street cops, I highly, highly doubt they're okay with a non-black as chief.

She will not have Salamoni back on the streets if she has a say in it. She'll never survive that politically and she knows it.

Lolz Broome just appointed the guy that arrested Gary at the council meeting as the interim.

Jonny Dunham named interim chief. He's a 29-year white LEO veteran, so you know he doesn't have a shot in hell at getting the job.

He is no longer on the transition team

He's not going for it anyway.

He doesn't want the full time gig.

Anyone want to take bets on which race she will choose?
It doesn't really matter what race. Even when a black person is hired for the position, people will still hate the police. He or she will be called the lapdog for whitey. Just look at Baltimore if you want to see what BR will be like as far as leadership.
