From what I hear, SAS and St. George dominate sports now because of how big they are. I heard STM sucks which is the complete opposite since I was in school

SGS class of '93 here

I doubt anything I have to say about the school is relevant to 2014. It is nothing like it used to be back in the day.

Both my kids went to St Teresa. Wife is an alum. Was a great school, better than the public schools in Asc. The education had gotten a little lax in the last couple of years because older teachers retiring, new teachers coming in. If your kids want to play school sports, it isn't the best at competing, most other schools are better, but most of the kids play in Parish leagues, etc.

There has been some recent changes and a new administrator, the Priest from St. John has moved there, so it seems like it did when they first started going there.

My oldest is in all honors at SJA, no issues. She was behind on some of the advanced math, but ahead in English, etc. STA just did not have an Algebra program that other Catholic schools in BR had. Didn't even consider other privates in Ascension, they are worse than the public schools and Public in Iberville are low scoring, but there is a gifted school there.

STA has just added a new Algebra teacher and administrators. I like its direction again. Needed changes. The fair builds community. You will know almost all of the kids in the class.

My 8th grader is going to SJA next year, she has done well on pre-testing and should be in honors like my oldest, so I think for the cost and the atmosphere, it is hard to beat STA. If your kid isn't really worried about sports, then it does as well or beter than the BR Catholic Schools. They have more resources and they are making changes as well. I know MBS is. ST George just has more kids, resources, etc. They are the largest school in the Diocese and have a huge pool to pick from. That is why the dominate sports. All my oldest daughters friends went to Aloysius, good school as well.

I was in 5th grade when they built the new upper school/library. That old blacktop and wooden maze of a jungle gym they had previous was AWESOME for recess.

Yall also had an advantage playing in your home gym because the change of death as a visitor from running into the bleachers or a wall was about 95%

I'd love to hear why
There students seemed to struggle alot more then most other schools at CHS. Couple that with the fact they practiced "drive by" drills at recess. No doubt though one can get a great education there

That's news to me. The SHS I've heard have gone on to be more accomplished than their peers at SAS, SGS, STM, etc

St Jude

my son goes to St Jude and is in the 6th grade. He started there in 3rd after spending K-2nd at MBS

St Jude is a small school compared to St George.
I can only compare St Jude to MBS because I do not know anything else about the others, but St Jude is much better. From my point of view it is run better, teachers are more caring and what I have seen and heard it prepares the students for high school (CHS or St Michaels)

That is factually incorrect. Sacred Heart has some good students no doubt, but they struggle the most percentage wise in producing these students

Have you seen the neighborhood that school is in?

The school also has underground bomb shelters from the 1950s.
