Where in the article did they describe the actual rape act? I guess you are going on just the charges?
Umm he is a man so he cant possibly have recepetive anal intercourse with a woman.

.004% change to contract HIV with vaginal sex as a man

.008% chance to contract HIV when penetrating anal sex

1.38% chance when receiving anal sex

you truly are ignorant.

most adult woman that are raped don't immediately report due a multitude of reasons (scared, embarrassed, don't want to deal with it etc etc), a large number never report their rape.

this girl is 13!!!!!!!!!! because a woman doesn't report it the second it happens doesn't mean it didn't happen

Why did she wait until there was a blood test to report being raped?

Wouldn't you agree dealing with the medical issue was more urgent than dealing with the criminal issue?

Rape happened in mid-August. Apparently from the way the article is written, she didn't say anything about it until testing HIV positive in late October.

Which is what is driving the question.

I'm sorry, but there are too many stories of "REGRET MEANS RAPE!" for there not to be at least suspicion from any irregularity.

It's not that she didn't immediately report as you paint it that seems odd. It's that she went months and been hospitalized multiple times for psychological elements and says nothing, but after blood test results all the beans are spilled.

Not saying she wasn't raped, but let's not pretend there aren't precedents for cynicism to be warranted.

In todays world I can't help but to question how true this is. While its very possible her story is 100% true its also very possible that she willingly had sex with this guy (maybe some of her friends have had sex and she wanted to fit in with them, who knows) and then when she got back home she started having regrets and thats why the suicidal thoughts came to play and she figured her only way out was claiming rape.

No matter if this was a rape or consensual, if the 17yr old gave her HIV thats a felony I thought so he should not get off free here.

Not sure I understand your point when the girl is 13. It is still illegal if you are 17. It's called statutory rape.

ETA: Consent is not relevant when you are under the age of consent.

Again, none of this matters because of the definition of statutory rape.

My point is that there are many, many fricked up instances for rape accusations to instantly believe all rape accusations.

Not that this particular case was a "regret means rape" case. That was only brought up because if you can retroactively decide you were raped, anything goes.

It's not like all rape accusations are legit. I mean, when the warrent went out for his arrest for rape he turned himself in the following day. So what if there is something there? (Granted, he might just be scared shitless thinking he has HIV)

Story completely changes if he doesn't test positive for HIV though.

must be a different definition of 'friends' than the one I use.

Well, obviously an investigation must be done to determine if any sexual acts actually took place. But the story doesn't really change if he admits to having sex with her, even if he does not have HIV (other than the charges against him maybe). He still had sex with a 13-year-old. The story only changes if they never actually had sex.

The point is the lynch mob was mobilizing in this thread as if they haven't gotten burned in the past jumping to conclusions at the first report.

I mean, it looks like it is justified in my opinion.

He turned himself in which I would assume is an admission of guilt. If he statutorily raped this young girl, why no lynch mob? Sounds like you want this to be a classic case of the dindu.

maybe I'm missing something....but she has HIV.....PRIOR to being raped by this 17 year old dude.

She's 13 and already has HIV. And you're wondering why the "rape" wasn't reported sooner?

She's not a virgin. She's 13. She has HIV. I don't want to sound like an a-hole but something isn't adding up. How did she contract the virus?

Not sure where you are getting the information saying she had HIV prior to being raped.
