I agree with you.

I am fortunate to work for an employer that does not measure your worth by the time you are present/in your chair, but by the work you produce. This means I'm not stuck glued to my office until 5pm every day. Because of this, I have absolutely zero issue doing thing at night or on the weekend. It isn't ~expected~ of me, but I do it because I know it all evens out.

Nah. He does it so infrequently that he just texts or calls. Maybe once or twice a year and it usually when we have something first thing Monday morning that was thrown on the calendar, or a weekend obligation with a client.

That is great.

I will do my best to answer all emails, texts, calls of my fellow employees. However, at the end of the day I work to provide for my family, that requires I sell things. I prioritize my day and time around what I deem the most effective way to sell. Internal communications, while awfully important to those sitting in cubicles in San Francisco and Minnesota, are not as important to me, I will answer you with as much detail and thoughtfulness as I can, I only ask that you put the same amount of thoughtfulness into your requests of me.

Communications with my customers will always take priority over an emergent request from a manager. I generally have plenty of time to answer everyone, but occasionally I forget or miss something. If this happens and it was relatively important I would think a reminder on Monday would be better than scolding me on Tuesday.

Wait a minute, it is after 5 now. I am off till Monday at 8 est. We have a conference call, so we can all share some useless information all compiled at the last minute Sunday night.

How can you live with yourself?

Honestly, just follow business etiquette regarding mode of contact. If it is normal business hours, email is fine for standard transactions. Over the weekend, if contact is needed, email is not acceptable. Phone calls and texts only. Otherwise its rude. My rule is, if I need to take action in the next 48hrs email TO me. If i need to be aware, CC me. If i need to take action within 24 hrs, call me. Simple.
