If I forward you an email or text message that is relevant to an assignment or meeting that you were scheduled for Monday morning and there was a change in plans....I'd expect you to acknowledge the text or email

Because its' a benefit provided by the company. If you can't figure out why that would make a difference, I don't have much for you.
I dont take the company device, I use my own...does that free me from the expectations of others that do take the device? No, so it really doesnt matter who sends the money to ATT. It is either an expectation of the job or not.

Quite the assumption.

Not at all, if you cant compress you work week and your requests of your employees to sensible times..you are a fricking idiot. Unless you work in an industry that has 7 day a week 24 hour hours

I didn't say any of that.

The real world doesn't only operate from 9-5 M-F.

If were important, I would encourage a phone call versus acting all offended on Tuesday.

What is the excuse for not responding to the email for all of Monday?

Or I could just take two seconds to respond to an email and go on with my day knowing full well that I waste time during the work day on a message board.

I don't actually completely disagree with you to be honest. I have answered work emails on a weekend multiple times and I have never once charged for it. It was more the comment made about the sit down on Monday and the commitment to the company that would have really pissed me off. Anybody worth a shite would not put up with that and would go work elsewhere…at least I would.
And for the record I've posted like 1400 times since 2005. Do you really think I post on the clock very often? I'm on vacation currently which is why I'm posting.

You don't have to post to waste time here.

Real world? Ok, call you lawyer, primary care doc, insurance agent, or banker on Sunday at noon and tell me what they tell you.

I suppose those guys arent real world folks.

You aren't their boss, but otherwise that's a terrific analogy.

...text and emails are much for efficient and leaves a paper trail.

I can be sitting anywhere and send or foward an email or text and boom. be done with it and it's documented in case I forget...I dont want to talk to clients or employees on the weekends. I'm likely to say something that I either reget or forget .

Holy shite.
Again, its not the fact that you expect me to read an email over the weekend that would piss me off. That's a little annoying maybe but not really a big deal. But don't act like I'm your child and need a talking to if I ignore your ignorant arse until Monday morning. That is the shite that I would not put up with.

How would that ever happen to you since you already just answer the emails on the weekend like a normal person?

Possibly the 18 fwds and reply alls with the same damn email title that are bounced around by the managers on Sunday afternoon. The tiny bit of info needed from me was buried in a ton of nonsense.

I just checked my inbox. 206 is the number today. 206 exchanges, of which I need to respond to about 15 of them probably. If you have something you need, and I havent got back to you via email in a few hours, pick up your phone and let me know.

I absolutely do, but damn if I'm really paying that much attention to my work email inbox on the weekend, especially those coming in at overnight hours.

Okay.

But it’s Tuesday.

Admit it, you read it on Saturday, didn’t give it another thought because you are off, and missed it Monday because it wasn’t highlighted.

And that is somehow the boss being unreasonable.

BTW, if you are salary, you are never truely off.

SO you're not intelligent enough to ready the email?

This is why everyone uses it, it is easy.

I have a competitor that emails tons of shite on bids, but never calls the customer. I have never lost a deal to him.

My boss will work on catching up on items from the prior week over the weekend so I'll get emails from him at odd times on Friday and Saturday night. He's made it clear that he doesn't expect a reply, just that we work on the item when we return to the office on Monday.

If he needs me on the weekend, he'll call or text me.
