The main question I have is did he have the gun on his person or did he fish it out of the backpack during the scuffle?

from all the video evidence we have, not one shot has him with a gun in his hand... he only has a cell phone in hand, and is then pepper sprayed....

actually the only time we see his gun is when the agent is carrying it away from him after retrieving it from his person...

he shot shortly after this...

we have no video evidence, from any of angles of the video takent, that shows he ever brandished a weapon

Did the threat ever even start?

One man on his knees disarmed being prison pummeled - not a threat anymore, if he ever was.

There is no justifiable use of deadly force if the man has been disarmed and the threat is over.

None. Zero.

Well some of us live in the real world and know the actual legal standard and not wha ever nonsense you are projecting

Are law enforcement taught to stand in front of a vehicle of a POTENTIALLY dangerous person?

It's a pretty simple answer. And you should know where I'm going with this. Everybody sucked in that scenario.

Remember, before this picture was taken 6 agents were on top of this man

Before this picture was taken, this man’s gun was taken from the back of his pants by an agent

The ice agent hit by the vehicle absolutely had reasonable fear for his life

The ice agents here never had reasonable fear for their life.

Which, politically and morally, is absurd considering the massive systemic problem with illegal immigration as it relates to apportionment in the House.

You're not going to make major dents in the populations of inefficient areas to make much of a difference in apportionment, regardless. I mean I supposed you could do the opposite of my plan and permit illegals to roam in red/cooperative areas while inefficiently detaining/removing illegals from blue/uncooperative areas and make a slight difference in a small # of areas in terms of apportionment.

And, that shows a preference for a political-based policy and not one in maximizing detentions and deportations.

I don't see a ton of justification happening in this thread.

perhaps try re-reading, from the first post, but do it unbiased this time...

if you REALLY can't see the abundance of attempted justification, then you are truly, TRULY retarded....

i'd at least have respect for you if you said, yeah, i see it but i don't give a frick and i agree with those trying to justify it, b/c at least, then, you aren't being intentionally intellectually dishonest

I think your points in here are fairly level but I completely disagree with you judging the situation watching a bunch of slow motion reddit videos vs what looks like it transpired in the manner of 10-15 seconds or less is pretty silly. I think that was the poster above's point. This shite happened very fast and it's not hard to fathom a situation of chaos where 4-5 officers see one Sig Sauer strapped on this dude's back and then someone else yelling GUN and mistakes being made. More people than not are not going to keep calm like Dick Winters and expecting that is just delusional.

All of this is correct.

Some of you are also failing to understand the likelihood of the firing officer not realizing that the arm pulling the gun out belonged to another officer and not the guy.

what was his intent here when there was still 3-5 feet of separation with himself and the woman and the woman is moving away from him?

The woman chose to put herself there. He did not seek her out. She came from behind and around him to get into that position.

For some fricking reason he decided it was time to close the space of the woman not moving towards him in anyway and knock her arse down

See my post above. Also, she did not start moving back until he started advancing.

Again, we are getting into the weeds. My whole point was to show what a disingenuous prick SFP is.

This is making arguments specifically against engaging in such risky behavior, though.

You're not wrong in the abstract, but as LEO, why create such a situation when it wasn't necessary?

Oh I 100% get that

But how is “man we just really fricked up and thought the suspect had the gun but really he didn’t and we did” a valid defense?

Relax. Winning this argument on the internet won't bring this dude back to life.

My stance is that in the real world, in a chaotic situation, I understand why a dude with a Sig Sauer strapped to his back, that got into an altercation with a bunch of slaw arse law enforcement agents is now dead.

Am I saying he got what he deserved? No.

I'm saying he got an outcome that was very likely given the circumstances of the situation and he holds some responsibility for it.

As much as the dumbass officer? No, but some.

Some of you are also failing to realize the situation would've never happened if ICE didn't START attacking non violent protestors
