Do you act civilized and use something to mark your spot in a book? Or are you uncultured swine who desecrates the book?

Lent book to family member and got it back with multiple pages bent at corners.

It's upsetting.

Your family member is a piece of shite. You should key their car.

Anything other than some sort of bookmark is uncivilized and uncouth.

If it is my paperback, I bend the corners. If it is someone else, I don’t.

You're asking the OT? Most here don't read books, they wait for the movie, and the books they do have, the pages are sticky, not dog-earred.

I mark mine with failed powerball tickets to remind me why I was reading in the first place

You don't have this problem with kindle books...just saying.

I prefer a real book to hold.

Never could adapt to reading on a tablet.

You sound like my husband...he is the same way.

I mostly do kindle now just for the convenience factor. Love having access to my book anywhere I am. Long lines/waits are now just a perfect excuse for me to pull out my phone and start reading.

I fold the pages unless it’s a nice book. More convenient and that’ll be the last time I read it I’m sure so doesn’t matter.

Once you begin to collect books of value, it does tend to become an issue, especially on collectibles.

Amazing how people don't realize how much some books are worth, and really how easy in most cases to figure it out.

After finding a gem, then seeing it all marked up and knowing how much the value decreased tends to make an impression on you, so I can understand what you're saying about your own collection.

Kindle does it for me, but I used to fold over. Always my own books, though. I’ll read something multiple times. I was always really hard on them.

I thought I would hate kindle too, but I’ve grown to love it. Especially with a waterproof case. No more swollen books from an accidental dip in the tub

I also don’t like to get rid of good books so it helps with the storage issue.
