I have a booked flight to Cancun in June that was a direct flight from MSY, booked and paid a month ago. Today I get a notification that it is now leaving an hour early and going to Houston first. Then with the layover not getting to Cancun until 2 hours after the original scheduled time. So flight is an hour early, now has a stop and arrives 2 hours late from the originally planned/paid for trip.

Is there anything I can do?

Call the airline and ask them.

Never fly that airline again. Vote with your carrier selection. I will never fly Delta again, going on ten years now.

It's 8pm on Christmas and I've been drinking. I am not calling the airline tonight, hoping the OT had good suggestions for when I do call

Tell them you are on a recruiting trip for Nick Saban. That'll get results.

Call the airline, if they do that, you have the option to reschedule without fees

Find another and cancel that one or stay on that one.

Man people are stupid.

Is it a refundable flight? If so, take your business elsewhere. If not, let them know this will be your last flight. Type a measured e-mail letting them know your displeasure and your intent of finding other options in the future. There are a few airlines that I am amazed are still operating.

Sounds like you're booked on United, right?

Cancel and rebook yourself on the Delta nonstop.

I booked the flight first because it was direct and then booked 7 days in Playa. I paid them their money for their scheduled flight. Why the frick am I stupid for questioning them changing their flight after I already paid

This same thing happened to my friend flying to Jamaica. She called the airline and they booked her on another flight and told her to request a refund for the difference of fare.

They'll let you rebook for free on a more ideal itinerary with that airline, or you can cancel for no penalty and receive a free refund.

You're clueless on this, FWIW.

Do you ever get scared that the plane may crash?

Most of the time if the itinerary changes they will let you change your flights to whatever your preference is

Sucks,my preference is to keep the original flight I paid them for. I had that they can change their plans after the fact and my only recourse is to cancel and reschedule. Screws my plans I made based off the flight I paid for and booked. Oh well, little guy always gets fricked.
