Bojangles, the small East Coast fast food chain that’s developed a cult following for its juicy fried chicken, buttery biscuits, and Cajun-style sides, has set its sights on Houston.

quote:

The chain announced an expansion to Texas on Monday, with the first Houston-area restaurant opening in Humble, likely something next year. Locations are also planned for Conroe and The Woodlands, plus another 18 stores for the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Weird. I thought it was already in Texas.

Why does it take Texas so long to get Bojangles?

I thought it was more of a Southeastern fried chicken since they’re big in the Carolinas and Virginia. When someone says “east coast” most people associate that with NY, Philly and Jersey. Poorly written

I live in south Florida and we have Popeyes here which is awesome. I moved here from NOLA. But Bojangles is legit. Wish we had it here as that hangover option.

Their sausage biscuit is the best fast food sausage biscuit. Their chicken tenders box with seasoned fries & a biscuit is typically excellent

Steak biscuit with cheese is the best thing on the menu. Went for the first time in about a month this morning and the one close to my house is out of steak. Hopefully its not a shortage.

I wish we’d get some Bojangles in the New Orleans area and get rid of Popeyes

I hated Bojangles when I lived in North Carolina. Then one day I asked if they could put the seasoning for the fries on my chicken as well and it was amazing. That shite is bland as hell without it.

Coworkers told me I put seasoning on too much of my food, but seriously ask for that if you stop there

It’s basically a great value Popeyes.

It’s like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version, vs the more authentic Jerry Jeff Walker version.

I found out recently the song “Mr Bojangles” is about Jerry Jeff Walker spending some time in OPP.

Song not the Chicken

I knew a man, Bojangles and he danced for you
In worn out shoes
Silver hair, a ragged shirt and baggy pants
The old soft shoe
He jumped so high
He jumped so high
Then he'd lightly touch down
I met him in a cell in New Orleans, I was
Down and out
He looked to me to be the eyes of age
As he spoke right out
He talked of life
He talked of life
He laughed, clicked his heels and stepped
He said his name, Bojangles and he danced a lick
Across the cell
He grabbed his pants, a better stance
Oh, he jumped so high
Then he clicked his heels
He let go a laugh
He let go a laugh
Pushed back his clothes all around
Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles
Dance
He danced for those in minstrel shows and county fairs
Throughout the south
He spoke with tears of fifteen years how his dog and him
Traveled about
The dog up and died
He up and died
After twenty years he still grieves
He said I dance now at every chance in honky tonks
For drinks and tips
But most the time I spend behind these county bars
He said I drinks a bit
He shook his head
And as he shook his head
I heard someone ask him please
Please
Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles
Dance

But the chickens good.

Bojangles is basically leftover Church's chicken in a nicer neighborhood. I'd rather go to the ghetto to get Popeyes with crappier service knowing they will fack things up. At least the guy at the window will know where to find some good weed.

Cajun filet biscuit, seasoned fries, sweet tea, and Texas Pete will cure any hangover.

One in Biloxi used to have a buffet. Only one I've seen with it.
