lol I looked it up. It's a whopping 47% done if it's the widening job.

I can't figure out WTF they are doing. There are random pieces of asphalt lining the road.

I go though the 73 widening and the Napoleon construction pretty often. Napoleon ain't got shite on he clusterfrick that is the 73 widening.

Don't go to MS then. I was amazed at the speed of construction here when I moved.

Ask people in North MS about construction on Highway 78! MS did a hell of a job, but AL took an extra decade+!

It's all about getting change orders, that runs projects up in Louisiana.

I was amazed at how fast they completed projects up in the northeast and out west.

The final phase of Napoleon Avenue is scheduled to be complete in November 2016, though officials said that weather delays could push it into early 2017.

They had the contract on Gen. MacArthur a few years ago. They finished 2-3 months early, which was a multi year deal.

Not sure if they had the contract a few blocks over on Berkley, put that took fovever was suppose to be 13 months. They were replacing all of the sewer & water board pipes at the same time.

If my math is correct they are 907 days into their contract, or 137% on time and 47% complete. How has the state not thrown them off the job for too big of a spread of work complete vs. time?

While they may be 907 calendar days into the project, they most certainly aren't that far along, contractually speaking. DOTD deems each day a "charge" or "no charge" day. If weather, utilities, or something else beyond the contractor's control prevents them from working, the day is recorded as a "no charge" day. And weekends are "no charge" if the contractor doesn't work, regardless of weather conditions, etc., unless their contract says they are to work weekends.

you are correct on a work day job as deflined as LADOTD. however, this contract was a calendar day project, which means you get charged for weekends, rain, etc. i have worked on both and know the difference.

I live off 73 and can tell you that 100% of it is fricking 0% complete. Everytime I hear a new date its 6 months past the last one I heard.

I don't know Where do you live? I have it out for barber brothers. They do this everytime they get a job. It's the states fault for giving them contracts and allowing them to do this type of work with no penalties.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for improvements in drainage and infrastructure and building a better NOLA. But christ, the timelines and lack of synergy with government offices and/or forethought on projects is insane! So much coin wasted on jobs done two and three times over is what pisses me off.

S. Claiborne, which needed repaving since the pilgrims, finally got it in 2011 from Earhart to Carollton. Then, 6 or so months later, they start tearing it up. WTF. Sometimes it seems like welfare for some of these companies, at the expense of the taxpayer, because of the stupidity of those in office. Another prime example is the widening of I-12, which included a taller concrete barrier, between the Hwy 11 exit and the I-12/10/59 junction RIGHT after the safety cable type barricades were installed. :bang head: /Rant

Cool fact.

I currently live about two blocks off Old Jefferson Highway. Right by my house, and off Old Jeff, is where All the King's Men was written.

I used to hate driving through BR all together because of the I 10 construction.
