And there you have it. You compare you intervening with a dog that you know and knows you while it is attacking your dog to a cop having an unknown dog aggressively lunging at him in attack mode. Your dishonesty is noted

How in the world would he know simply getting out of his car would cause the chain of events of this dog acting rabid?
True. But why did he get out of his car. The videos show the children complying with his request. If it’s me, I sit in the car and watch the kids take the dog inside, MAYBE talk to the parents once that happens. Then I’d drive around and find the pack of 4 dogs that was the reason for the call.

So? This isn’t an armed person. It’s a dog. It’s not shooting projectiles at you.

Sadistic bastard has a night stick, heavy boots, body armor… whack or kick it at most.
Hope he ends up having to watch his genitals be eaten by starved pits. I can’t help it, I truly wish unspeakable suffering and/or death on this POS state-sponsored thug.

I'll tell you one thing, this would be an entirely different thread if that was a different breed of dog.

Attack mode is a matter of opinion. Protecting and attacking aren’t the same.

Not reading thru 4 pages but I have a 100+ lbs German shepherd that gives zero shits about anyone other than my wife and child. The officer was technically on a sidewalk, but why was he there? What complaint was made? Why did he go hide behind the other vehicle and reach for his weapon again with a woman and children screaming because he shot the dog?
I've put a lot of time and energy into a family protection dog. Some LEO shows up at my place, what gives him the right to shoot my dog that's doing exactly what I want him to do, which is protect my wife and child from strange people? I've run dummy drills with that dog letting him out one door, going out another, and we see who can get the guy first. Our shepherd's entire life purpose is to take that bullet, but that frickin cop would have a few in him if he opened fire on my property. From me or my wife, and she is a former cop and current LEO instructor.

Is this truly the position you want to take?
We have now entered the only projectiles can be deadly part of the delusion.

Those dogs are trained. They don’t hesitate when they get to their target. They tackle people. This dog was turning away as seen in body cam footage :07 seconds in.

Well that’s the thing. The cop wasn’t even yet to your neighbors property

This dog had plenty of time to attack and didn’t. Again, use your club, pepper spray, a taser if you are a pussy and feel that threatened.

That bodycam footage is pretty damning. For the dog. Cop tried to “make friends” with the dog. Dog lunged at him to bite him. Dog continues to bark and act even more aggressively. Dog gets shot. Pretty open and shut case.
FAFO applies to dogs too.
Based on comments, I am surprised most people here would let themselves get bitten or mauled before they protected themselves from an aggressive dog.

Self defense gives him that right

Sure he would. And if this actually would happen (it wouldn’t) then you’d be doing your best to hold on to that soap in the showers.

They wouldn’t. They just can’t get past their feels to be honest on here, and they play internet tough because they can. Their reality would be significantly different than their current delusion

So the cop is called about agressive dogs. He sees a dog not on leash around two kids. Using sense he things “damn, hope those kids aren’t in danger” Stops to get out his car. Before he can say a word Cujo is on his fricking arse going wild and rabid I mean this is ridiculous

I'll go farther with that line of thought, if it were another breed of dog, just as loved by that family, they'd be cheering the cop and wanting to pin a medal on him.

People in this thread call that trashy. I call it a dog doing what humans have bred them to do for thousands of years. Poor dog got shot for doing his job.
This. 1000%
OMG SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD HIM ON A LEASH!!! Get fricked, he was in their yard and nothing was going on. How many of you dumbshits yelling "leash!" take your dogs outside on a leash every single time? frickin hypocrites.
I live on a ranch. Multiple dogs. You think I take my dogs outside on a leash every single time because some dipshit deputy or Amazon driver might be there at the moment? Get real. This cop is a pussy that could just have really gotten back in his cruiser and maybe had a slight flesh wound.

I can't see the video.
I'll bet, though, and this is just a guess since I can't see the video, that the cop had other options but knew he was officially in the clear in this instance, so he did what most cops love to do and swung his dick around and shot an animal in a situation that could have been negotiated some other way.
Again, just a guess.
