Yeah. The follow up shot was ask the dog was turning to run away.
Officer must have a thing for killing dogs. He ran over someone’s else dog a month prior and they offered the individual restitution money.

Cops really suck with animals. How many officer dogs died of heat exhaustion this summer bc of incompetent handlers? At least 2. If they are going to use them to do their dirty work, they need to be responsible. It’s obvious they are low on the totem pole for intelligence. NOPD shot a Catahoula puppy behind its fence, Terrebonne cop shot a dog on the street, Rapides Parish shot a boxer in its own home, and one of their employees was involved in abusing Cane Corsos at her training center. The list goes on. Hard to have respect for the blue.

I normally back the blue, but I admit that this is a stupid and shitty thing for the cop to do. He wasn’t in enough danger to start using his gun. The cop’s in the wrong.

If any of my dogs were shot like that .... the officer that did the shooting would die.

The best thing about the OT is getting to watch the irrationals come on here and show the world just how irrational they are. You can show them all the piles upon piles of evidence and photographs of how brutal dog attacks are, and they will still stand by their irrational positions.

Shows how the dog wasn’t fricking close to its property anymore
Also shows the officer literally tries to keep the dog calm at first, and shows the officer back away before the dog launched forward again at him

Cop was too trigger happy. I’ve been in several situations where a dog has run up to me, maybe jumped a bit. The last thing in my mind is “gee, where’s my gun?”. Step back. Shove the dog if you need to, maybe give it a kick. I suppose you could use a taser?

Discharging a weapon in that situation is a last resort, not first. Maybe you get bit, you will live. Those kids are scarred for life now by his actions.
