How did that come into it? The article mentioned the hog farm was the area of interested previously searched, but didn't mention if anything was uncovered.

This is why we have the penalty of death.

I understand why we want that type of punishment, but it's a terrible deterrent. Someone who is going to kill another human isn't exactly worried about whether they get life in prison or the death penalty.

I don't care about being a deterrent. I want them punished properly. Destroyed and sent to hell.

Fair enough, and I understand that sentiment.

Maybe it's not so much a deterrent issue as it is a burden to taxpayers to have to pay room and board for a TPOS for the rest of his unduly long life.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the average time spent on death row before execution in 1985 was 71 months — or just less than 6 years. Now, it’s hovering around 190 months or about 16 years and it’s climbing. In one exteme case, Gary Alvord, a Florida man convicted of strangling three women, died after 40 years on death row — of natural causes.

It's actually more expensive to execute someone than it is to imprison them for life.

It is actually cheaper on the tax payer to house for life instead of the death penalty. After all the appeals are finished on a death row inmate, the tax payers have spent millions of dollars on his defense and appeal process.

Probably so because of the complex legal process and all of the appeals that take place.

For 100% cut and dry cases, they should execute them within a few weeks of the verdict.

Yeah, I have no argument against the fact that the system is ridiculous. I just like the idea of whoever did this being killed instead of taking up space somewhere.
