Maybe my neighbors will finally stop working on theirs at all hours of the day and night.

BMW could turn a big profit on this by all of the mechanics being forced to buy the special tools for these screws

Not sure this is innovative. I and many others I know did something similar 15+ years ago. Took a hex head screw and put a tac weld right in center of slot. Ground off flats so the hex head became round. Then took screw driver and a thin cutting wheel and cut a matching slot in screw driver. Threw the screw driver in center console in case I ever needed it. The question is why?
At the time Ford tailgates were a hot item to be stolen. All you had to do was drop tailgate, angle the tailgate and lift it out of the slot. However if you put a stainless metal hose clamp around it the slot was blocked and tailgate wouldn’t come out. The screw mod made the “special” screwdriver a requirement to get tailgate off. None of us ever had a tailgate stolen ever again.
Not sure if BMW tried to patent but there is prior art to that shite.

I bought a BMW EV. I’ve had it two years and just had to change brake fluid. That’s the first thing done to it. Eventually I guess I’ll have to change the tires.
