600hp + 4300lb curb weight + 129mph trap speed = underrated engine.
It's pushing more than 600hp, no doubt.

I had the v10 6 speed m5. Skipped the last generation. Plan on getting this one.
I had a 2010 E60 with the SMGIII (Sequential Manual Gearbox) and S85 motor (500 bhp).

Maybe some but not a lot. It is hard to make generalizations on trap speed especially when you have a forced induction engine. It depends a lot on gearing and how much area is under the torque and horsepower curves. A multiple turbo engine (so they spool quickly) can have quite a trap advantage over a NA engine making the same peak HP.

Yes they do, that’s a signature of BMW, there’s a picture of the Z4 in this thread with kidney grills

BMW has underrated every M5 they’ve made except for maybe the E39. The last M5, with a slightly less powerful version of the same S63B44 V8, debuted with “550 hp”, then “575” with the Competition Package, then “600hp” with the 30 Jahre Edition.
If you look at dyno readings off of forums and whatnot online, the consensus is that the car never made less than 540 WHEEL horsepower.
