maybe because you didn't have to fight them into the restraints they walk in with and have access to potent drugs to knock them unconscious has something to do with it?

You and all of your colleagues need to catch a little “covid” and “self quarantine” for the next three weeks.

I don't think they all are either.

Lot of truth to that. The majority of cops aren't heroes nor are they racists - shocker, I know. Would go a long way if they called out the shite heads among them, but events like the charges today make that a pipe dream. Like I said above, the entire thing is a shitty cycle. All of the protecting one another bullshite leads to problems, the backlash to those problems leads to an officer getting charged for murder for doing his job, then all of the protecting of shite heads seems necessary. Rinse, repeat.

Are you going to toss your cuffs to them and tell them to put em on so you don't get within grappling range?

I think I have the answer to the problem...

You'd think someone would have some tangible numbers if it was as widespread as people have suggested.

I get it.

It's pretty hard when you're relying on these people to potentially save your life or vice versa. I get why they don't really rat on each other even though I don't agree with it. It's not a regular office job like people want to pretend it is. I don't know what the answer is to improve accountability.

Yep and people better wake the frick up and slap(metaphorically) their emotionally driven wives if needed also. They are doing the exact same things ISIS did by destroying anything they can from the past.

I'm not saying that's the first go-to move, but wouldn't you want training to be able to control them when they get close to you and start reaching (like the cops in ATL)?

They should be trained for that. Speaking for myself and my training, you maintain a "reactionary gap" that YOU decide when to close that gap. Working with a partner(rare as a sheriff's deputy), your partner can provide a slight distraction but that requires familiarity with your partner. It's still up to the arresting officer as to when you close that gap.

Yeah I want to know how many officers didn’t show. If it’s a large number and they can reasonably be expected to be short handed over the weekend Atlanta will be some must see TV. Could just as easily be nothing.

I don't either. Some of the problems don't really seem fixable.

They probably expected you and the DA to keep your commitment to them too.

Right, I'm just saying that providing more training to be able to handle that instance where the suspect starts resisting when you're slapping the cuffs on should be additional training available to them. The original post I was responding to said that more training wasn't a solution.
