"We have laws on the books that outlaw discrimination but it still happens," said Valerie Wilson, director of the program on race, ethnicity and the economy at the Economic Policy Institute and co-author of the report. "We want to have greater pay transparency so there is accountability on some of these differences."

Affirmative action forces management to hire less qualified women for the same job titles as men.
Although they have the same job, management knows they are easily replaced and not integral, therefore they pay them less

This pay gap is bullshite and the data is not a true apples to apples comparison. There is no such thing as a gender or racial pay gap.

Could be true and will all that has happened the last few years, that gap will get bigger. Along with the hiring of employees that are not a distraction in the workforce.

What is the math there?
If black women make 66% what white men do, it would take 12 months/0.66 = 18.11 months to earn what the man earned in 12. So they work 6 months longer, not 8.
Of course all these pay gap stories are BS... but this is just bad math.

Do the white men that work at McDonald's REALLY make that much more than the black women?
Are they trying to tell me that a manager interviews a white guy and says,
"He looks less likely to turn the ice cream machine off at 7:00pm. Let's give him an extra $0.66"

Like every job I have had the men at McDonald’s probably volunteer to work more hours to make extra money while the women cut their hours so they can work less a week.
