The real problem is the white doctors getting his patients hooked on the opiates to begin with. Once the drug dealer cuts them off, then the patients turn to the streets for the black market drugs. Black market drugs are dirty as frick.

As a tangent, I’d like to point out how the use of statistics, even if accurate, can be used in misleading and even untruthful ways.
Life expectancy is one of the key measures used to discuss the quality of life of an area, and/or the quality of health care in an area. On the surface, it makes sense, but in actuality it’s a meaningless statistic for those measurements because it’s over-broad.
In this case, whether I’m a black man or a white man, if I don’t hang out with thugs, don’t engage in risky sexual behavior, and don’t do drugs, this change in life expectancy is meaningless to me personally.
Sure, it’s important from a societal perspective, and for actuarial tables for large scale economic planning, but it doesn’t tell me anything about my own life expectancy.

Is that true for the majority of opioid addicts though? I know this is anecdotal, but of several addicts I've known in my life only one claims this is how he got hooked on pills. He was also pretty big into cocaine before his opioid addiction as well
