We would all be OT ballers right now if we just followed wiki's advice with a couple of hundred of dollars or so.

C/P from my post on the other thread:

Sometimes I daydream about what if, but the reality is that had I bought in back then, there is next to zero fricking chance I would have held past about $100 per BTC. Would it have been nice to have made tens of thousands of dollars on it? Sure. But I’m flat out fooling myself if I think I would have held until it was worth life changing amounts of money

The second I bought in 2017 it crashed for years and then I sold at a loss. Should’ve held 7 years later

Yep and that is with the official inflation rate. It's probably really closer to 100k

Bitcoin market is bipolar asf. Every time it hits a high like this I kick myself a little for staying out, but then it always inevitably crashes and I think, "Yep, glad I didn't hop on board the crazy train."

Y'all haven't figured out yet that bitcoin/crypto tracks pretty closely to the market?

It's a speculative asset. When the market is roaring, the big funds don't mind buying big chunks and taking the gamble that it might go "to the moon."

When the market cools, they tighten up their balance sheets and the first thing to go is the speculative stuff.

You and I aren't moving the market, but they are buying/selling in chunks big enough to drive price up/down.

It's currently at 301.

Up 181% in the last year. That's not close to the market.

I said it tracks (directionally) pretty closely to the market.

I didn't say anything about its beta. But a high beta makes sense because, again, it's a speculative asset that's basically a "frick it, why not" gamble for big funds.

Bull market --> buy big chunks (not really all that big, $$, for them, but in terms of crypto, it's enough to significantly move price).

Bear market --> clean up the balance sheet and get rid of all the speculative bullshite. Again, selling in chunks large enough to move price (down).

It's not the average TD poster moving prices on crypto. It's the big funds gambling on it.
