When I lived in Jackson it was a common thing to hear about some Asian who saw a big old lone bull buff, and wanted a picture of himself standing next to it.

My sister lived in Jackson for a while and her boyfriend was a fly fishing and camping guide in the summer.

He told us a story of a group of people literally sneaking up on baby moose and trying to pet it.

Moose are MEAN MOTHERfrickERS. How stupid can a human be? I told him he should've let them die to cleanse the gene pool, but he said that'd be bad for his business

Packs of wolves are scary AF and can close ground lightening fast.

Yep.

And I should have said the "wolves". The single wolf, you probably don't have to worry about too much. If there's more than one? You better get your arse a movin'.

Anyone with an ounce of self preservation sees a lone bull, and instinctively knows that it is to be left the hell alone. Japs must not have that gene.

They really dont.

Why make this a requirement. If you're dumb enough to voluntarily get close to dangerous wild animals, well the gene pool benefits for your consequences.

Im just happy the OP correctly called it a bison and not a buffalo

He just copied and pasted the title from the article. I wouldn't give him too much credit.

the size of those Bison up close is incredible.

I went backpacking in Grand Tetons N.P. once (highly recommended btw) and encountered bison and moose on the trail. They are huge. More people are killed by moose than by bears.

Then there's also the risk of being sexually assaulted by a moose

A wolf runs about 45mph top speed. Factor in start up and you are looking at that wolf on your arse in about 6 seconds.

You just have to make sure you aren't the slowest person in your group.

That's one time in your life when you want to be REAL average. As in, dead smack in the middle of the group. The slow and the fast get picked off first.

It’s funny this has to be a rule.

Ive seen stupid arse tourists take selfies near a sleeping bear. They constantly have to be reminded this isn't some animal park.

Was it a black bear? (Do y'all even have those up there?)

Because that's crazy, but not "Manson" insane.

But, of course, you're probably talking about an AP Brown (big arse grizzly for you lower 48ers) - the exact bear you don't want to run across, poke or irritate/draw the attention of - in any way - ever.

I've seen them approach both

People have no idea how to react around animals except through an iPad or TV

Saw a tourist jump in the bushes to get a picture if a brown bear eating berries. He was within 10 feet.
