It’s birthday and it’s the anniversary of the day you were born. The year is meaningless except to determine the age of the person on their birthday.

A date is an exact day in history that occurs only once.
Those are two separate dates.
A day repeats every year (except for February 29th). April 3rd happens every year and is not dependent upon the year.
