I like the idea of Irondale, but it's too close to that shite for me. That's what kills me about places like Avondale. If you cross the railroad tracks on 41st St, you are somewhere you REALLY don't want to be.
I've always wanted to buy some of my family's old homesteads. Back when families huddled together, we had a large contingent in Central Park and Ensley. I can't imagine those areas ever coming back. Shame too. That was when they designed neighborhoods the right way: sidewalks, small business areas, parks and green spaces.
