BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Leaders of the police officers’ lobby in Birmingham have approved a no-confidence vote in Police Chief Patrick Smith, citing increasing crime and violence against officers.

The vote by board members and trustees of the Fraternal Order of Police lodge Wednesday night was unanimous. They also expressed no-confidence in Assistant Chief Darnell Davenport, news outlets reported.

quote:

Eight officers have been shot during Smith’s three-year tenure, one fatally, and Birmingham ended 2020 with its highest number of killings since at least 1995, Young said.

Birmingham is currently on pace for a record year in regards to crime. It has a higher murder rate than many of the traditional blue blood crime cities we always hear mentioned.

To be fair, the Chief has a boss. And that boss doesn't give two fricks what happens to police in the name of "restorative justice".

Also to be fair, a lot of cities are pushing their records due to the current state of affairs. Shite year to be anything police related.

And yet here in Cola we have a black mayor, half the city council is black, and we don't have anywhere near the issues Bham does. Mainly because our democrat black mayor curb-stomped the BLM bullshite the minute it started here.

Same city with the mayor who wants a civilian board to review police complaints and advise punishments

Hard to chase a murder record when everybody is stuck in traffic around Malfunction Junction.

Birmingham may as well be a city in Illinois or New York with how left it actually is. I know a communist that’s heavily involved with the “free” store there. If any of you baws need a brake light fixed, the socialists there will fix it for you at no charge

Apparently you've never been to the I-26, I-126, and I-20 interchange here during rush hour.

I’d be interested to know just how liberal the local judges are too

My first real job was at Nelson Mullins and since my first wife was finishing up her thesis and wouldn't be moving to Columbia for 6-8 months I decided to share an apartment with a college friend. The complex was off St. Andrews, I had no idea the hellish commute I was in for. When I looked at it on a map it should have been a sub 15 minute commute...

Ouch. It could have been worse. You could have lived in Lexington.

What the frick is a “police lobby”…I have to think that is a labor union. Like I always say, don’t come with problems, instead come with solutions>
