Well, Bill Nye is right. Anyone that actually believes in Noah's Ark story should be declared legally insane.

If anything this ark should prove that Noah could not have built one himself. It took this dude 7 years and $100 million with modern technology. And this one can't even float!

We'll see how long it lasts. I don't look forward to when it stops making money and the state ends up having to deal with it. That'll be a financial albatross in itself.

It's a private business on private property. If it goes out of business, what exactly is it you think the state would have to deal with?

You think a county or state doesn't deal with properties that have been abandoned or fallen into disrepair?

I should start a megachurch. That is good business these days apparently.

Its the quickest way to vast wealth besides inventing something revolutionary, marrying into it, or winning the lottery.

Noah's Ark is a religious story, and the people who built the museum are promoting their religion. There's nothing wrong with that, and there's nothing wrong with evolution, either. But Nye and pals showing up to tell these Ark people that their religion is wrong... is wrong.

I suppose Nye will next visit the Mormons and the Church of Scientology to debunk their religious beliefs/Creation myths as well? No? Hey... the Muslims believe in Noah's Ark, too. Bill? Evolution hippies? Anyone?

Nye debating Ken Ham on youtube is what basically funded this entire thing. Donations went through the roof. Ham invited him for round two, and they had a debate in front of cameras. Wouldn't shock me at all to learn Nye got a nice check for the appearance. None of us would have have ever heard of this if it weren't for the not-so-subtle controversy of atheist evolutionists versus old testament true believers.

I believe it took Noah something like 100 years to build his ark according to the book of Genesis.

Eh, it's not the end of the world if someone doesn't fully believe in the evolution theory. It's still possible to understand and learn science without fully believing in one aspect of it.

By your line of reason no town or state should encourage new business out of fear of what happens when that business fails.

I don't believe in Noah's Ark, or most biblical stories for that matter, but I would never spend my valuable time bashing those that do. There have been plenty of scientist throughout history that have been correct in their theories, yet we are suppose to blindly believe everything theory they assert. Just keep your mouth shut and go about doing what you do Bill.

I don't think there is any debate on the existence of dinosaurs.

How much would it cost to build a pyramid these days?

Actually, I'll answer my own question.

quote:

But the current theory of the building of the Great Pyramid — the notion that it was assembled from the inside out, via a spiraling internal ramp — is probably still the best construction plan. Following that plan, we could replicate the Wonder of the Ancient World for a cool $5 billion

Uh science is self correcting, which is a positive. Religion is not.

just from a pure investment stand point, it probably wasn't a good long term investment for this by the state

its not like its a real theme park for everyone and with the younger generations growing less religious by the year, I don't see the longevity in this "park"

The State is going to have to bailout Williamstown when this thing crashes and burns ( attendance will be way lower than projections) and won't be able to pay back the city which will then default.

quote:

money used to build Ark Encounter came from donations of almost $30 million, plus $62 million in high-risk, unrated municipal bonds backed by the project’s future revenues.

quote:

So while tax dollars might not actually have been used to build the ark, a boatload that would otherwise go back into the community will instead be used to pay off Ark Encounter’s debt.

which we all know will be defaulted on. Who is going to pick up that tab?
