ISIS member in Iraq arrested for involvement in case

NEW ORLEANS — Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council announced that it has arrested a suspected ISIS member for his alleged connection to the New Year's Day attack on Bourbon Street that left 14 dead.

Iraq's National Center for International Judicial Cooperation said in a report that it arrested the suspected terrorist after the United States requested assistance in the investigation of the attack.

According to the report, the suspected terrorist is accused of inciting the attack that also left dozens injured after Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed a rented pickup truck through a crowd early Jan. 1.

Jabbar, who FBI investigators said was a U.S. Army Signal Sergeant who was radicalized by ISIS, also died in the attack.

The unnamed suspect arrested by Iraqi officials will be prosecuted under the nation's anti-terrorism laws, the report added.

Gov. Jeff Landry said Tuesday that he is still thinking about the victims and their families as more information comes out about the attack, including the arrest.

"There are also victims who are still recovering from that tragic day," he said. "This goes to show you the resiliency of this state and the commitment of our law enforcement partners whether it be at the federal, state or local levels have in making sure we're safe in Louisiana."

This is not a "big update" lol

He just incited the attack. Not a perp or planner.

It is to the half the main thread that was convinced he carried out the attack as a lone wolf with no outside help.

They did not reveal that this man helped him carry out this attack.

Incitement is different than aiding.

Oh that's it? So the attack would have still happened if he wasn't in the picture?

The frick up who attacked was nothing but a grunt. Some idiot who was easily convinced to perform the attack. I think the guy who is getting people to do his dirty work is a threat... no?

You're thinking about Iran: A state sponsor of terrorism. Iraq is not one.

Well, if you want to nitpick, it is actually a "How To" manual...

They are slow playing this. There will be more that slowly comes out, and pertinent shite. I hate when they do this, but it’s so damn commonplace nowadays.

They need to lock it down or full release. Of course they would rather things be an afterthought.

Glad I don’t do this crap anymore…

He was recruited, radicalized, and given instruction. I’d stake my life on it.

I really think Mayor Queen Teedy needs to take a trip to Iraq to look into this. While she's there she's bound to break one or two of their laws.

She has a ton of faults but she was the first to call this a terrorist attack when the FBI was specifically saying it wasn’t.

Credit goes to her for calling it like it was.
