Pretty much 0% chance he would have made the team without travel ball.
So he doesn't have any natural talent?

I thought every weekend was a big travel ball weekend.
Signed, all the college pitchers with arm problems

100% chance Chad's kids have names like Madisyn, Bayden, Jaxkston, etc.

I still do not understand this insanity. I played ball until I had to get a job while in high school to pay for the stuff I wanted, car, insurance, gas, etc etc.... I hitched a ride with my friend and her family (her dad was the coach, so they had to be there) to every travel/weekend tourney. I don’t recall any of my family being present at any of these weekend-long processes... I remember having a blast with my friends, playing ball and sweating my arse off. What is it that has created this new “haul the family to the ballpark for the weekend” phenomenon? Teach your kids some independence.

Maybe because your kid sucks. My kid gets homers like every time. That’s why my kids gonna grow up to be a foreman and your kidll probably be a little pignose safety man

Baseball
Oak Villa
13U
and no...I do not think my boys are the next Alex Bregman. They play because they enjoy the game AND I support it because it gets them outside, active and off of the gaming consoles.

You are probably right. Since I would rather spend my time with my entire family camping, fishing or doing something productive my kid will be a failure. Son is starting high school next year and as someone said above, most schools won't even let you tryout without tournament experience. So we are doing it for a season.
13U oak Villa for us too. Say hello when you see me...

Wife has the ball player in Broussard tomorrow. I got the younger one here for soccer. I got the better draw

Glad my grandsons don’t play travel ball.

It’s pretty pathetic how this board dwells on a parent enjoying sports with their child. Almost as pathetic as grown men and their banter on what is and isn’t trashy. . It just reeks of insecurity,

Then don’t post on this board

It’s embarrassing. Grown men so insecure that they start multiple threads daily asking each other what is and isn’t trashy and trying to pass judgement left and right. Like I said. It reeks of insecurity

My grandson is 10 and an average athlete I guess for his age. We signed him up in the local league. We get to the first practice and I don’t think some of these kids have played much ball, it was pretty bad . I asked one of the dads what was going on and he said all good players play travel ball. I’m hearing $1500-$2000 a kid, yea I’m OT poor .. frick all that

Not replying to you, BowDown...
The requirement for highschool baseball tryouts is tournament experience? That's shitty and lazy on the coach's part. Evaluate talent and go from there.

I agree. Simply because your kid didn't play tournaments doesn't mean he doesn't have the skills to play high school ball.
Just to clarify, I don't think tournament ball is trashy. Whatever your family enjoys is what you should do. It's just not for me personally.

My kid plays travel ball. I fricking hate it and am thinking about pulling him out of it and just putting him in league ball. Playing tournaments all weekend doesn't make you a better ball player anyway. Most of the kids are pussies anyway. If I see another kid cry because he got hit by a pitch for a 12 year old I'm gonna lose my damn mind. And apparently nowadays the entire team on the field needs to take a knee when a kid gets "hurt."

They do the knee thing because about half the kids do t have the discipline to show respect and just sit there without being an a-hole
I blame the parents
