To be fair, I'm not sharing false graphics and I've been explaining, numerous times, that my posts are computer models not actual forecasts. I also continue to state that the odds are against the models since they're just models. You have to have model consensus and agreement for them to be taken seriously.

The models predicting upper single digits and low teens for our area, then backtracking to show lows in the 50's the very next run, are equal to spaghetti models during hurricane season when they show anywhere from Brownsville, TX to North Carolina in the cross hairs of a category 5 hurricane. Need consensus.

Check out what "Dr Josh" wrote on the bottom of his latest weather post on wbrz

quote:

Just remember, when your friendly neighborhood meteorologist says snow, or no snow, and the opposite happens, there is accountability. As a community, we should either hold the bloggers and “modelogists” to the same scrutiny or agree to put an end to premature weather hype. Scrooge you call me? Nay! Merry Christmas to all!

Unless he is receiving daily lashes across his back for his huge blunder on the last snow event he shouldn’t say shite about accountability

I don't wanna hear shite from Mr "it's not gonna fricking snow" Eachus. He was wrong and I haven't seen one inch of accountability. Sorry buddy, but the models were right in that situation. A good meteorologists doesn't ignore models, but takes them partially into consideration rather than worrying too much about giving a safe forecast.

I think it's been made quite clear about 20 times in this thread that this stuff is just a best guess by the models and should not be taken as a forecast.

We know (or should know) what the models mean and that they are uncertain, and we know that the people that bring it here and interpret it for us aren't meteorologist paid to keep the masses informed.

Josh, on the other hand, is.

GFS is on it's own for an icy New year's.

Canadians and Europeans have a warmer pattern over the SE. Wouldn't change thread title just yet.

GFS:

Looks chilly.

Euro:

Not so much.

The Canadian is similar. Ride those general solutions unless they fall in line with GFS.
