i mean, i know where the popular roads are and shite, but like E. Boyd, Parker, shite like that, those i don't know...
i'm not from BR, i didn't go to LSU, and i mainly stick to S. BR and Ascension Parish... except for football season, i'm never down around and/or on campus, so, yeah, i'm not familiar with the streets and their names...

As you may be aware of, Perkins, Burbank, Nicholson, and Highland all run roughly parallel to each other. There are several streets connecting the three, but only College/Lee/Brightside connects all 4 near campus.
Acadian/Stanford/LSU Avenue connects Perkins to Highland, but dead-ends at an apartment complex on Highland.
Parker/East Lakeshore connects LSU Avenue/Stanford to Highland as well as Burbank, but does not go all the way to Nicholson (it will in the future).
Boyd is the next one over from Parker (coming from campus). Boyd connects to Highland, but is right turn only and has no light, and connects to burbank with a light, but no turn lanes/signals (there is a turn lane on burbank, but no signal), and connects to Nicholson without a light or turn lanes. This is the road that's losing its light on Burbank.
Jennifer Jean/Bob Pettit has a light with turn signals on Nicholson, a light with no turn signals on Burbank, and dead-ends before reaching Highland.
There you go. The traffic clusterf&%k that is the south side of LSU (still not as bad as the north side).

Or looking at it from "landmarks"...
Coming from Nicholson & Burbank going towards Lee:
Parker is close to Taco Bell.
E.Boyd is Circle K/Mellow Mushroom/Sonic.
Jennifer Jean is the last light before the long stretch to Lee, and it leads across Nicholson into Tigerland.
Nicholson Extension goes from Nicholson to Highland, at the light about halfway between Tiger Stadium & Alex Box.
(IMO, it's always been pretty easy to turn left from Highland onto Nicholson Extension even without a left turn signal; my beef with taking it is that you have to deal with people turning into the student parking lots and all the pedestrians crossing the road so it slows you down.)

I just moved away from the campus area 6 months ago so I am apparently missing something over the outrage here.
Turning left from E Boyd heading north has always been a cluster frick so making it right turn only should make it flow faster. Use the other 2 streets on either side of E Boyd if you need to turn left how hard is it to turn one street earlier or later?
Or you can always go all the way to Burbank and turn right and by pass a left cross traffic turn altogether.
I am guessing everyone who is pissed lives in the condos across from Bogies as those are the only ones who are probably affected.

The biggest issue was those on burbank trying to make a left onto Boyd and Jennifer Jean. Those people are not helped by this at all. Now, there is also no means of moving people on Boyd off of Boyd. It's a huge step backwards. By re-striping Burbank, they opened the door to fixing this problem with a couple turn signals, but they decided to just say "nah, let's f%$k everyone" instead.

Someone could have made an absolute killing by putting in a restaurant/bar with a open patio.
This is the real travesty of that intersection IMO.

Build an outer loop thru Alvin Dark.

Oh and frick those repainted lines on Burbank. My car can't even fit that that turn lane.

Mine either.
What kind of cars do you drive? I have a truck and fit in the turning lane. It's cutting it close, but it fits nonetheless.

The biggest issue was probably the high crash history at that intersection. Safety is one of the main factors when making traffic decisions and there always seems to be crashes there.

Sure there is. Right turn only onto Burbank. And I'm just speculating here, but I won't be surprised to see Boyd become right turn only at Nicholson as well. This would really force Jennifer Jean to become the main road to use for through traffic. Boyd would become a local road used only by people who live on it or who are going to one of those bars.
As it stands, people use Boyd as a main road to get from Highland/Burbank to Nicholson/Tigerland. That main through route is about to become Jennifer Jean.

Totally agree with this though. Idk why there's no damn turn signals.

JENNIFER JEAN DOESN'T CONNECT TO HIGHLAND!
It's also to the LEFT of Boyd if you're coming from Highland.

I'm well aware of the layout. To get to Highland you'll have to make a left onto Burbank from Jennifer Jean, which won't be difficult since there's hardly any traffic coming from the dead end, then make a right onto Boyd.

To get to campus after implementation, the choice will be either a) turn right onto Burbank and make a u-turn down the road or b) backtrack and take Nicholson, thus adding time to the commute.
The traffic will only get worse with the red flashing lights due to the fact that it is the only road connecting Highland, Burbank, and Nicholson. People won't stop using it.
And Jennifer Jean does not connect to highland.

This is why I think they'll make Boyd at Nicholson right turn only as well.. but yea I wouldn't love it if I lived on that street.

If it becomes right turn only everywhere I know I will quit using it
