Of course not. Your daddy paid for it.

I don't want them to forgive student loans, but I'd be an idiot not to take the money if they do. It's not that hard to comprehend
The majority in this thread have this big ego about "not taking handouts" but knowingly take government money in various forms. We are all welfare queens.

The state and scholarships paid for my undergrad and I paid for my post grad. I have a relatively small amount of student loans that I haven't paid since the freeze because they're 3.5% interest..
My daddy didn't have to pay for my school

I assume you mailed your stimmys back and have never taken the child tax credit (if you were able to if the judge didn't give it your ex wife)

He used his stimmy on Jack Daniels. Dude has fallen off the wagon more than Biden has fallen off his bike

No, but I can actually define welfare queen unlike yourself.

If they're going to give you your tax money back you'd be stupid not to take it obviously. My gf and some family members will be accepting student loan forgiveness if offered. Doesn't mean I think the government should offer it

Probably easier when you live through it like yourself. I concede on that point

It's ok bro, no one who isn't some chud will look down on you for wanting the cash. Take the cash

So you define yourself as. Welfare queen. Good to know.
So you maximize government subsidies and don't work.

that’s great, seriously. But can you not see how this is troublesome? That it takes all of that to buy a house (in many cases)? A significant portion of the population used to be able to afford a house on a factory/blue collar salary and frankly, a big portion of tbt population isn’t capable of much more than that. That group of people is slowly but steadily losing their ability to own a home and that’s not a good sign for the direction of this country.
Do you people seriously think that our collective ability to afford a home in a particular market is not the primary driver of home prices?
I just don’t understand I guess. Im a millennial. I went to college in state (TOPS), got a degree in a field in which the name of the occupation matches what’s on the degree. Was in and out in 4 years. Bought a house that I could afford 5 or so years later, needed work and did some renovations when we moved in, contracted myself and learned to do maintenance when problems came up. The process has by no means been without stress, but I just don’t feel as if I am facing the same challenges and many in my peer group are complaining about. You may find it troublesome, but I just saw it as the best way to get myself ahead. I’ve also developed an understanding and even gained some aptitude in labor related skills that I never had learned previously.

I, of course, take welfare from the government when offered. I used TOPS, I got stimmys, I take my tax credits.
Im not under some sort of false bravado that makes me less of a "man"
I can disagree with their existence but I absolutely take them when offered.
I don't need money, but if somebody offered to give me $25k for shits and gigs I'd take it

We can't "afford" it, banks are just willing to lend that amount. Which is going to bite us in the arse 50x

And in your worthless opinion, that = welfare queen.
You're really dumb.
If you work and provide most of your income, you're not allowed to call yourself a welfare queen. I'm sorry man, you'll just have to deal with it.
I would consider it a perjorative myself, but you be you.

While welfare queen is obviously hyperbole, the reality is that everyone tries to maximize what they get from government and everyone tries to minimize what they give to government.
Practically everyone will advocate for their taxes to be lower. Practically everyone will use every tax deduction they can. Practically everyone will advocate for federal dollars to get spent where they live. Practically everyone will be happy to put government money directly into their pockets. Businesses who saw increased revenue during COVID took massive amount of government “loans” that were ultimately forgiven.
No matter what people’s political philosophy, no one is turning down money. Which is why the pearl clutching over student loans amuses me so much. It pretends as though the government spending playing field is otherwise perfectly equal and ignores that government spends all day, every day, picking winners and losers.
