2068 years ago today, Julius Caesar did not pay heed to the warnings of the soothsayer and was stabbed to death by the Roman Senate.

Wasn't 44 BC 2067 years ago, rather than 2068 (since there is no year zero)?

Year Difference = 44 + 2024 - 1 = 2067

Don't blame the rest of the Senators for the actions of a small group of radicals. By that time the Roman Senate had nearly 1000 Senators.
