When will you people ever discover that there’s other roads in this state besides the interstate system?

When will you realize that our numerous waterways require expensive bridges meaning that there are relatively few ways to cross said waterways outside of the interstate. For example, there are literally 3 roads that cross the Atchafalaya Basin: U.S. 90 at Morgan City, I-10, and U.S. 190. That’s it.

To cross the Bonnie Carre Spillway, there’s just two: Airline Highway (U.S. 61), and I-10.

To cross lakes Maurepas/Pontchartrain, there’s just three: I-55, the Causeway, and I-10.

To cross the Amite River from EBR to Livingston Parish, there’s only 3 roads: U.S. 190, I-12, and Magnolia Bridge (which was down for over a year after the flood)

To cross the intracoastal canal east of the Atchafalaya Basin, there’s literally one bridge at LA-1.

Bayou Manchac has just 4 roads which cross it (Perkins, Airline, Jefferson, and I-10) and 3 of those roads all merge into one-another at some point.

So yeah, when the interstate is f$&ked, everything is f$&ked.

Good. Lousiana deserves its traffic problem.

Don't forget Highway 51 at Pass Manchac, Highway 90 around Lake Pontchartrain to Highway 190 or Highway 11. ;)

Your premise is correct, though. There are few convenient motorways around S.E. La. due to its geography/topography.

You’re proving my point. You don’t HAVE to take the interstate everywhere. If you have to get from Lafayette to the other side of BR, 190 is way better than even risking that gridlock. People act like they are forced to to sit in that interstate gridlock.

So just drive 20 minutes out of your way to avoid the traffic on the interstate don’t complain and act like that’s the way things should work?
Are you really that passive?

Yes id do that only during times when West Baton Rouge is a Parking lot. Anyone who’s driven across that bridge a lot knows the times when you can and can’t. If I find myself trying to get back across between 3-7 I just take that extra 20 mins. Not a big deal dude

Other than when the well blew up next to the interstate, I have NEVER taken 190 from Lafayette to baton rouge. And I've been caught on the basin twice in my life.

You frickers exaggerate traffic more than your dick size.
