Best bar rule is definitely no smoking allowed.

Worst is cigarette smoking allowed, but no cigars.

Used to drive me nuts. Especially at country bars when cowboy hats were there. Question? With bro country douches making baseball hats the norm, are they allowed now in hockey tonks? 60% of what they are playing are from dudes who don't have cowboy hats?
Who wants to walk around with hat hair all night?
Not me.

No drinks on the dance floor
Just reading this makes me hear the Longhorn (Toomey) DJ voice in my head from the early 90's.
"No drinks or cigarettes on the dance floor!"
Every 30 mins to an hour.

Best is no smoking in the bar. I didn't even realize how much I would love it until Dallas banned it.
Worst is bars that have a fluid dress code which is really just a way to discriminate against certain types of customers. Kung-Fu Saloon in Uptown Dallas got popped for doing shite like telling black people they can't come in while wearing Converse All-Stars while letting in white people wearing the exact same shoes.
I forget the name but there was one College Station bar that I once got denied entry to b/c I was wearing shorts and sandals. Reason from the doorman was there was a dance floor and it was a safety issue. I went back to my car and put on some shitty work boots and some wadded up jeans that I keep in the trunk, got in, and saw that roughly half the women on the dance floor were wearing shorts and sandals.

Honestly I kinda agree. But I go to a place that enforces this and sometimes it's silly. If I just worked all day outside and want to slip in for a beer I should be able too. One rule I really like is no drinks on the pool table.

Early 80s in BR, bar in town wouldn't let a friend in because his jeans "weren't blue enough"! His response: "whatta ya got, a bluedometer back there?"
