Without having to deal with scammers or sketchy payment methods, or worse high fees? I still owe on it, so I don't have the title in hand. The credit union says I can go to the main office with cash in hand and get the title, but I'm not in the position to do that before I sell it.

Last vehicle I sold on Craigslist, but it was a cash only type price, this one will be >$25k...so I expect they'll finance. Anything special I have to do for that?

Specialty forums for the make? Autotrader?

Experiences, advice?

I've also wondered how people can legitimately private sell their cars without the title. Different states have their own policies, but here in Montana the DMV mails you the title even if there is a lean on it. That way you can easily sell it even tho payments are being made.

Explode it up in a fireball and get insurance.

I have one for sale on Autotrader. I've gotten a few hits, it's been about 10 days. I also have my title held by the bank. I've sold cars this way in the past, just explain to the buyer that you're going to pay it off and tender title after they purchase. If they're financing it themselves, banks have a way of dealing with each other to where they'll have you sign a power of attorney, obtain payoff amount, and either pay the vehicle off/give you balance or pay your bank the entire amount, and they issue you the refund.

If you were looking to buy a >$25k used vehicle, where would you look?

I'd assume just blast the car websites and popular forums for that model is a good option too, if you were active on it. This also helps if you're customized in any way. Craigslist, CarMax, AutoTrader, Cars, etc. No idea which ones cost a fee or not.

Like bring it in to see what they offer? Not sure that's best, this a rare vehicle that's highly sought after, I'm not just dumping some POS.

Are you getting something new to replace or just dumping an extra vehicle? I think I saw a commercial for a Ford dealer in NO or BR that will buy it without buying another one from them. I'm sure they will aggravate the shite out of you tho.

Getting an 2018 XC60, but I'm not willing to accept trade it in value for my truck. It's way too cool for that.

It's a Tacoma, not a Ferrari NART Spider.

More people are in the market for a Taco than a NART. If I had a $20 mil car the answer would be much different.

Just saying...Rare only works if you can find a person who has to have it. My truck was sitting on a lot in BFE Florida before I bought it, so rare doesn't necessarily mean highly sought after. People say they want a 4x stick, but sales numbers don't reflect that. I just need one person who has to have it.

eBay surprisingly is relatively cheap on fees and gets you great exposure.

It's a rare version of a highly desired vehicle.

A NART is a rare car that's highly sought after.

They host a lot of photos too. I see there's a Classified moniker on there, not sure what that means...be cool to put it up there then hit all of the forums with links to it. I've seen Craigslist used to host the photo page, but it's not as easy to navigate.

My truck fits in perfect with what's out there right now on eBay. Same with autotrader, there's nothing used on the market comparable.

My FIL has bought and sold multiple vehicles and boats on eBay. Knowing him, if it was any kid of hassle he wouldn't do it.
