Best Way to Get Oil Stains Out of Concrete?

Trying to prep for epoxy in the garage and looking for suggestions to get oil stains out. What would the OT recommend?

Muratic Acid, although be careful.
A straight benzene product would too, but is it worth it.
Pressure washing will help too.

Carbon tetrachloride if you can find it. But why worry about oil stains if you are about to epoxy over them?

Be warned, unless you are going to grind or acid etch your entire job, the epoxy will fail. The kits from the big box stores are junk. Look for a kit called "roll on rock".
ETA: the oil "stain" won't be a problem, you just need to ensure theres no remaining residue.

I guess he will have to decide how important that epoxy finish is to his life.

Depends on if there is visqueen under it or not

In Mississippi we just oil the rest of the driveway so it all looks the same. My concrete drive still doesn’t have any rust.

Go to www.garagejournal.com to get the serious answers. Prep is 90% of getting epoxy floors right, fail to fully prep and the epoxy will fail.

Spray it down with degreaser then wash it off with the hose pipe.

Rub "oil dry" into concrete with a block of wood. This will get stain out. Follow others advise on concrete prep. Epoxy will never stick without some kind of chemical prep. Good luck

Why wouldn't you just resurface it with more concrete?
Seems alot easier than all this other bullshite.

He must be old like me. I say it as well as tump over, I’ll be there directly, fixin too, reckon so, icebox and supper.
And muratic acid scrubbed with water and then pressure washed is correct.

This sounds weird...
Take the plastic wrappers from the nasty Kraft individual cheese (cheese food, I know)... at least 30 per saucer sized stain... mix 1 part Comet, 2 parts Barkeepers Friend, add 1 cup white vinegar, some Karo brand corn syrup, some Cheerwine until you get a nice paste. Put it on the stain and cover with those wrappers. Over night. In the morning, remove and scrub with a NYLON brush.

You still have to prep green concrete and it will put him back a month or so before he can apply epoxy.
