You are not lying, this whole Houston is cheap crap is just that, BS. I live in one of the most expensive areas in LA outside NewO, Mand/Cov, and it is cheap compared Houston by a lot.

15.9¢/kWh is the best I could do through Amigo.
I compared 10 or so different plans/companies using the Facts Sheets and my previous years usage data. You have to look at the details in the contract and do the math using your usages or you’ll get hammered for not meeting the minimum usage requirements in winter.
Increases my bill about $40/month until I can get a lower rate, which you can do at any time in the future with a current contract. Hoping the price drops down to 11 - 12 in the winter for a better rate.

What good is a fixed rate if they can still change it at anytime? Am I reading this correctly?
Type of Product Fixed Rate
Do I have an early termination fee or any fees
associated with terminating service? The amount of the Early Termination Fee will be $200
13.99¢ 19.7¢ 18.3¢
The Average Price Disclosure is an example that is calculated using the Energy Price, the Base Charge (if applicable) and
the Transmission and Distribution Utility’s (TDU) recurring delivery charges in effect for your monthly billing cycle. Your
average price for electricity service will vary according to your usage. Prices exclude state and local taxes, PUC
assessment, and gross receipts reimbursement, if applicable.
1. Base Charge $4.89 per billing cycle
Can my price change during the contract period? Yes
If my price can change, how will it change and by
how much?
The price can change if there are changes in the TDU charges, fees
imposed by ERCOT, or changes in law or regulatory charges.

I use 4change energy. My contract ends in February. I signed up for a 2 year plan. We have a single story, 1,800sq ft house with just me and my wife, both retired so we are at home all day long. Thermostat is set at 70 at night and 75 during the day. 4change will send you a weekly e mail showing you your projected bill.
My usage last week was 440 kwh at a cost of $49.43 with a projected monthly bill of $229.96.
I have no idea what their current rates are but I have noticed their rates are cheaper when you renew in winter months.
Good luck in your search

I also use them...was with TXU for years, but made the switch in 2020...think they were around 8 or 9 cents a kilowatt hour back then, my current rate is .11/kWh.

Energy Ogre. Set it and forget it.

Go with a service that monitors the contracts for you. There are several out there.
I have been happy with Real Simple Energy.

Don’t forget about the $1100 Cinco HOA annual fee. I’m sure that will go up again.

Like others have stated, I use Energy Ogre and like it. It picks the best plan for you for a small fee. The TDU charge which is based on usage and small compared to the charge from the energy company can change but your energy cost from the provider is locked in.

I got a note on my AEP (Centerpoint equivalent) based energy bill, that said a Snovid cost recovery charge would start appearing July 1. There was no amount given. Not sure if this is for AEP maintained lines only or statewide.

The current contract on my small arse condo was up for renewal in the beginning of June. I did research for best prices and because I only use less than 500kwh a month the best I could find went from 10.5cents to 20cents for KWH, made me sick.
After I renewed my contract I found out about energy ogre, I’ll definitely use them next year.
