Charlotte is like the least hipster city I've ever been to. . It's super corporate. It has a great quality of life, but it's a very "uncool" city.

As a Charlotte resident I would mostly agree with this and I’m perfectly fine with it. Nashville and Austin can be “cool” I’m content with a nice place to live with no battling lines of tourists.

The city focuses on bringing in new corporate jobs, not tourists and it’s certainly working. City has added 167,000 jobs since 2010 per a recent article I read. And that doesn’t include the new Honeywell HQ or the new SunTrust/BB&T HQ.

I totally agree with this mindset. I see nothing wrong with a city being "boring" if it is also a great place to live and raise a family.

I mean, you're living there, not visiting for a week. I want things like good schools, good parks and walking trails, safe neighborhoods, and good grocery stores.

The Charlotte suburbs on the SC side of the state line are growing like crazy right now.

I cover the South for work.

NC is big but has no soul. I never have the “great place to live” vibe when I’m there. In the Carolinas I like Charleston, it’s perhaps the greatest southern city.

Georgia is a disappointment outside of Atlanta.

The Deep South is my favorite place in America but doesn’t have enough economy.

Virginia is awesome but northern Va has just become Washington DC.

The answer is Florida.

Charleston is in SC. Maybe you need to travel for work more often.

I know Charleston is in SC. Relax, i messed up trying to say something nice about NC.

But I work Carolinas together when I’m there, have been 100+ times. Proximity to Charleston is still the best thing I can come up with about NC.

I somewhat disagree with Charlotte being boring. Hang out on the south end for a day and get back to me.

I certainly wish it had more cool old architecture and more character, but it wasn’t an economic powerhouse a 150 years ago like New Orleans or Charleston. It was a farming and mining village.

But it’s got a wildly improving food scene, great craft beer, plenty of good jobs, drivable access to the mountains and the beach, easy winters (for this midwestern), and moderate cost of living/taxes

Compared to some of the other major Southern cities, I get the boring label. It doesn't really have a unique southern character all its own. That doesn't make it a bad city. I lived there for a year or so around 2000 and would move back there without hesitation if given the right opportunity.

Always wanting to be on their own, not part of the Southern states. Not a bad thing, I just rule TX and FL out of Southern conversations.

This mentality is so dumb. They’re both literally southern states. Why do you want all southern people to think, look, and act the same? Shouldn’t we appreciate the fact that our states have similar, but different heritages and foods and people? I think so.

shite always changes, there is not golden era, and life was never as good as we have it today.
