We drove a Rav4, they were nice, but we wanted a bit more room and got the highlander. They ride better as well, but I think that is expected.

Car threads are always fun:
OP whats the best 2 seat roadster for $50k or less
tOT just get an F250 for that much money
Small SUVs
Standard line:
1. Mazda CX-5
2. Honda CR-V
3. Toyota Rav-4
If you keep them forever get the RAV-4
Premium line within budget
1. Volvo XC60
2. Acura RDX
3. Mercedes GLC
If you want to keep it forever Lexus NX
You might also look into the Lincoln Corsair which likely has a more cushy ride than the rest if that interests you
What I would avoid in the luxury segment:
Infiniti QX50 great engine crappy tranny
Jaguar F-pace Jaguar reliability without the Jaguar level interior
Cddy XT4 cheap interior and unrefined powertrain

Mine is nearly 7 years old and looks new. Probably helps it only has 30k miles and Lexus doesn't change often.

Check out the new Lincoln Aviators.
Wife (no pics) has one. Had it for almost a year now. She loves it. Went from a QX80 to this even after she wanted another full size.
Only issue we've had was one of the door buttons stopped working about 2 months in, but it was fixed within a month (waiting on parts) and hasn't been an issue again.
I will say, DO NOT bring anything to All Star in Prairieville for service. They don't have the Lincoln techs and evidently don't want business. Go to Robinson Bros.

In that range...don't go Small...go after the Lexus GX. Overseas they are sold as the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Great quality, horrid gas mileage, unbelievably awesome reliability. They start around $55K pretty well equipped.
I hate the front end (wish they would have stuck with the old design)...but they are awesome vehicles.

I assumed the OP wanted a reliable car. Which means no Chrysler, Fiat, Ford or VW product.

CX-5 Turbo is well under that budget and is best in class by all metrics.

Good choice if you need to tow and don’t care about having CarPlay or modern graphics.
But yeah the front end is horrendous.

IMO this might be the best suggestion if there is no need for heavy towing or off roading. Pilot is also good if the OP needs more 3rd row space.
Acura MDX is awesome if the OP wants something like the Highlander or Pilot but a little fancier.

GX460 Gets Big Tech Upgrade
Until this year...it sucked. Looks like they've finally seen the light on updating infotainment system in '22.

We need to define "small". Toyota's small SUV is the Rav4

Again, the Liberty is the small SUV from Jeep.
The GC is a full sized SUV

I don't mind the front end and I think the GX is arguably the best value out there right now.
But the interiors are very dated and the tech is non-existent. Bombproof though.
