So with pollen season around the corner (already hitting me in Nashville), what is the “go-to” nasal spray for seasonal allergies? I am looking to pair something with my 2-a-day Zyrtec habit and 2-a-day steam shower routine.

Pollen fricking wrecks me for 2-3 weeks every year and I live in one of the worst cities on the planet for it

Flonase seriously changed my life last year. Already have mine ready to go here in Atlanta. Took my first snort of the good stuff today.

Nothing else OTC would work for me, then Flonase made last year's allergy season my best since developing allergies.

Praying to God it has the same effect this year.

ETA: I still take a Claritin and eye drops. I get them bad. But Flonase reduced them by 90-95% easily for me last year.

Afrin till my nose bleeds.

Seriously though. I go see an ENT every time around this year to get a steroid shot and get prescription strength meds.

Nice. Will try it out.

I want to avoid Afrin because of all the horror stories I've heard from people first hand.

Is Flonase over the counter now? Is it as strong as prescription?

Zyrtec in the morning and before bed works for the most part unless I'm outside a lot. And I plan on golfing all Spring. Gonna need to bring in reinforcements

It just went OTC last year or very recently before then. It's amazing. Good luck.

I also would keep a little Vic's vapor rub or a couple of these bad boys handy to get my mornings off to a good start.

The Vic vap rub just a dab on your mustache area can feel pretty good, as I often wake up congested. Those tabs I linked just toss them in the shower

Been using Allegra-D the past couple years. For some reason the past few days I have been waking up in the middle of the night when I take it. Bought some Flonase OTC today and about 1 hour after spraying, I am pretty clear. Hope it lasts and hope it does not affect my sleeping tonight. Still use Afrin in a pinch.

I got the balloon sinuplasty done a little over a year ago due to chronic sinusitis. Ever since then I've had no more sinus issues. The first week of recovery sucks, but in the end it's worth it. Ask your ENT about it.

So it is preemptive care?

How much does that shot cost you?

Allegra-D wakes me up too. And makes me feel bizarre during the day.

I try to avoid decongestants for that reason, but I do keep claritin-D or Zyrtec-D on hand in case I'm just miserable.

You have to rotate them out every 1-2 years.

They all work.
Fir awhile...

Also, Netti-Pot.

I love these things, but have to limit their use. It dries me out so much I get nose bleeds

Worst cities for pollen always include “Memphis/Knoxville/Nashville” triangle, Jackson, MS, and South LA.

I’m from Baton Rouge, married a girl from Jackson and went to Ole Miss, and now live in Nashville. I have continuously moved into pollen hot beds.

Also use OTC plain saline spray.

Keep some in your car, desk, etc.

I prefer Nasacort because Flonase bottles seem to crap out before they are actually empty.

I have to combine mine with antihistamines. I just recovered from sinus infection #3 for this year. Starting immunotherapy soon. Hope this helps.

I wanted to rip my nose off my face yesterday. I guess it's time to go stock up on the allergy meds.

I have an appointment with an ENT tomorrow to discuss the balloon thing. Gonna look into a steroid shot too now.

I've been on Nasonex for years.
