Yeah, Banks has some seriously questionable residents near Finn's.

Certainly. However, I find that you're pretty safe as long as you stay close to Jeff Davis

It was the side in-between Banks and Tulane

Yup, south of banks is hood. That's the demarcation line. Hopefully the development on Tulane squeezes that out from the south, Midcity market from the west, and the hospital from the east

That's a whole lot of yellow. People who aren't from Nola sometimes have a hard time getting used to the idea of a "bad area" being a five minute walk from their house.

there's some development on the back side of it. I'd really like to see that place demolished or rebuilt though. Looks like Armageddon

and.. Old Metairie = Lakeview correct?

No, not exactly. Pretty close though. In either of those areas you could have a peace of mind when it comes to crime.

The map on page two is a good guideline. The neighborhood near city park seemed good to me (blue area top middle)

It's kinda hard to pinpoint an area specifically. It's really, really patchy. You kinda of have to see for yourself, really. As others were saying, closer to the main thoroughfares such as Jeff Davis, Canal, Carrollton, etc. is typically a good place to start.

A little north in the Bayou St. John area is a great place to look too.

anywhere bordering city park is pretty nice.

like between city park avenue, carrolton, & bienville

lakeview is a short drive too, as is old metairie. Mid city is ok, but its not that great.

Mid city is much more spotty than uptown. Stay away from Tulane and Banks. Bienville is sketchy too. Broad is also sketchy.

Close to Canal or City Park Ave and you'll be good.

I had a friend who lived on Sherwood Forest. Seemed great,

I'm on the Carrollton corridor just north of Banks. Kind of on the edge but passable. I couldn't pass up the huge yard.

Btw y'all are all welcome for making this place a better place to live

Uptown, somewhere close to Magazine St or St Charles Ave

Warehouse District

Also, If you want once in a life time experience while you're still young, I'd look into renting a place in the FQ for a year or 2. Nothing too long term bc you'll get sick of it, but it would def be an experience you'd never forget.

After you've had enough of that, move Uptown

City Park is awesome, by the way. Lots of fun stuff to do in there.

Try the Bywater. Rental houses are on the market, and you within walking distance of good food, bars and music. Close enough to City Park area to bike it.

Definitely Mid-City over Uptown for you. It would take me 20 minutes to drive to LSU Dental (I'm guessing this is where you're going) from my place Uptown.
