Central has a land area that is roughly equal to the land area of the city of Baton Rouge. It's a big place. I think the places you're talking about are all closer to North Baton Rouge, along the Hooper/Blackwater side and Joor side near Prescott. That's only part of Central.

The areas that are along Greenwell Springs close to the Amite river are thriving, especially around Morgan Rd, and so are the areas further out that used to be Pride - Denham Rd and beyond.

St. George is sketchy already. Ever gone to Skate Galaxy over there? Ghetto as hell.

That’s exactly why I set the threshold at 40 miles. That seems like a far enough distance to keep the ghetto in BR.

If it weren't for "work" reasons, I don't see why anyone would want to live anywhere besides a Jena, Harrisonburg, Mansfield or a Bunkie type town (talking Louisiana, insert any rural town with room to breath). Its a small state you can get anywhere and back in a day drive easily.

This guy gets it.

I can’t believe anyone is considering commuting 40 miles—especially from Hammond—into BR for work

My job starts at 5:30am so I leave Natalbany at 4:15 to get to Geismar at 5:15-5:30. (61 miles to the office)

I-12 rolls pretty smooth that time of the morning unless some dumbass decides to breakdown or wreck.

I NEVER take 1-12 home in the afternoon. Always take the backroads.

I wouldn't build here until I was certain the diversion canal was about to be completed. But otherwise it's a nice area.

And Central has some decent development guidelines and solid schools.

A lot of suggestions here and all could be considered as an option. But it should be noted they are all the best horse at the glue factory.

If you want city conveniences then I would say St. Gabriel around Bayou Paul or Ascension (West side). These would allow you to get into BR fairly quickly. If you want Country then I would say the same 2 places unless you want property then you are looking at Livingston. I also think St. Francisville is an option. Diversion is pretty cool if you like fishing/boating.

All and all it seems like any parishes to the north and to the northeast are the winners in this thread.

St Helena, East and West Feliciana and Point Coupee (crossing the river at Hwy10).

“Winner” and “St Helena Parish” don’t go together unless you are sending your kid to a private school such as Silliman Institute in Clinton.

Schools there are dogshit and Greensburg is a shithole as the nearest town.

Sorry it doesn’t have a walkons and target. Some people prefer to be more rural yet close enough to still work in red stick.

Greensburg is lucky to have running water.

I’ve had to take too many trips through there to have any illusions about what is there. It’s like Ferriday but with fewer projects.

You’re selling it more with each response. You’re proving that it hasn’t been ruined by people yet. It’s untapped.
