Best Place to Buy a Phone Now Days?

So I haven't had to buy a phone in 10 years but today the iPhone 4S died and I'll have to buy one. Is there any difference in buying from the Verizon store vs. going to some retailer like Best Buy? I DGAF about iPhone or Android. Only had the 4S because it was what they were assigning us at work. Work does a phone allowance now days instead of assigning devices so I have to pick one.

I believe places like Best Buy apply rebates when you purchase the phone, and you have to mail in your rebates if you buy at Verizon. I don't know how it works now that Verizon changed the plans so you have to pay full retail on phones

Historically, Verizon hasn't allowed unlocked phones. I believe they just started doing it over the past couple of months though. I'd call Verizon and ask about the phone before purchasing it

Just a replacement phone for the phone I have with Verizon for personal/work. Hoes on the side phone still works fine.

I bought an Asus Zenphone from Newegg for 299.00 and it's just as good or better than anyone else's for the smart phone stuff. Check them out; I think it's better than my wife's S5.
