Yeah. We got lower a bid from another builder but I liked his attention to detail, so we went with him.

He's building about 4 houses a year.

When football starts I'm gonna start calling him Nick. He looks a lot like him.

He's still building more houses than I thought he was ..

I used Passman. I built exactly what you're looking to build. I liked dealing with Passman. Dude likes to talk ALOT. Everything that pissed me off they handled without issue.

Best thing about them is they took every phone call about every single little issue my wife had and answered it.

What's a reasonable amount for a builder to charge over and above the cost of materials and labor?

My cousins in St. Amant used to have a police jurer named "Needlenose" Vicknair. He had reelection signs all over the place with his face on them (he did indeed have a "needle" nose). No one knew him by any other name but Needlenose. What do you think?

Wooden Creations, Roy Domangue.

In the process of using him. Was very skeptical about building my own, but couldn't find something that fit my situation. I have dealt with many builders and know many subcontractors in the area. Roy's name kept popping up so I decided to give him a shot. I am absolutely floored with this man's attention to detail. You need about 6-9 months of planning because he doesn't break ground until every.single.detail is perfectly ironed out. Also he has been doing this for a while so he knows how to deal with the husband and wifey, and doesn't move forward with anything unless both are happy. Can't honestly say anything about the construction because our house isn't done (hopefully will be done by end of November), but have had many of my patients rave about their homes he built. One was even a fire Marshall and said he has never seen any builder come close to his quality of product.

He was very meticulous with his systems and processes. Like I said, no complaints whatsoever.

Heard he was battling cancer ... how's he doing today?

He's taken a holistic/prayer approach (very questionable but that's for another thread) but the cancer has gone dormant and has shown signs of shrinking. He has taken a more delegation approach but he only uses quality guys, so there hasn't been a drop off in quality.
