Sort of describes the sky screaming PC police who are offended at everything.

2016 was a very rough year for SFP

i suffered my first real loss in 2017 and then had my life (since about sophomore year of high school) completely disrupted/changed

most people didn't even know i was going through shite either time. you gotta compartmentalize and create small bites of life you can swallow and feel proud of doing to maintain. but what i said above is true. discipline is extremely important to creating your life. competency is what makes us happy. life is one big game and we're always trying to "level up". you have to have discipline to do this.

man I got shite in my past I'm constantly running from. It never goes away. I can only dull it with distractions.

It's always there and sometimes I have to actively override my own mind from going bonkers.

focus on developing some new skill or becoming an expert in something. if you always rely on the LCD, you're always going to slide back into disaster. you have to really concentrate on what you're doing. pick something. set a real, realistic goal. then track progress.

here is a simple method: Life your life like a video game

Crypto has been awesome for me. I never was one for investing, so learning TA, the market etc has been a godsend.

Don't even care when I lose money because I consider it tuition in the college of experience.

doing things that can net you financial returns are the best. that's what i'm doing with poker

now, getting my mom and gf to understand that poker isn't just playing slot machines.... but i have to remind myself that their minimal viewpoint is why poker is still profitable

Yes, it is the most common mental illness and is, by far, the most easily treatable. *There are many levels of depression ranging from the blues to bipolar. Anyone who experiences depression for more than a couple of weeks should seek a doctor's help.

The first stop should be your GP. He can determine if you have a physical condition that might be the source. If not then he can refer you to a mental health specialist. The specialist can then determine the type and degree of depression, and if a psychiatrist is needed.

quote:

Anyone that dismisses depression as something serious are ignorant and have no clue how bad it is for those that have this. You can’t just “snap out of it”.

My post was meant for the OP and not a general statement about depression. He's an adult who is experiencing depression. If it's not serious then, yes, he will pull out of it on his own. However, he can shorten his time down by seeking help.

Oh, and you misquoted me. I said "pull out," not "snap out."

*It amazes me how most posters in the forums are such black and white thinkers. Your thinking seems to be as polarized as politics in our country. I wonder if there's an association?

Yea, I don't think most people know what real depression is. I know I don't completely understand it.

When I was in my 20's, the end of a relationship, a job, or running out of cocaine made me feel depressed.

Now I'm in my late 50's and I've had some devastating health problems that have caused depression. The difference in me and some people, is that physical problem that causes my depression. Some folks are that way because it's in their DNA..

Haven't seen this mentioned yet. But if you are on social media, take a break from it.

100%. I took a 2 year break a few years ago and it was awesome. I only go on now to keep in touch with my Marine brothers that I served with.
