Just bring a bottle of wine. No one will question it.

I think the only thing about that that bugs me is him presuming and not asking.

Sure, if you are going over to a friends with a small group for a football game or something. Always offer to bring something over like booze or dips.

You don't ask what do I need to bring for a surprise party with 50+ guests

You dumb shite. He didn't mean for you to supply for all 100 people. Only what are you contributing. Tuesday was plenty of notice for Saturday. Bring a boudin tray and be done with it.

At the very least, ask him exactly what he is expecting. Geez

Well that’s a bad reply. Now you’ve volunteered to cook whatever he tells you.
Obviously you don't understand sarcasm. It means he ain't bringing shite so what are you as the host cooking.

You illiterate fricking trailer trash, did you not see where I posted that he asked me to cook jambalaya?

Do you think he meant make 1 plate just for me?

Wrong. If I host a party you bring you regardless of the #. If I can’t afford to host, I don’t host

I don’t even understand a surprise party with a 100 people. I live in a tiny arse town that doesn’t even have neighborhoods...I don’t know of anyone who has parties with 100 people. Gotta have that at a community center.

As I understand the facts here, your friend sent a group text inviting some folks to a surprise party for his wife. Once you responded that you and your wife would attend, he texted you back and asked what you are cooking. I honestly thought that was a joke until I saw you next post that the party is for 100 people and he asked you to make jambalaya and that you and he would be the only ones cooking. No offer to pay for the supplies to do so.

That's strange.

It's not the same as inviting folks and asking everyone to bring a dish or something along those lines. Your friend put you on the spot to make a main course for 100 people.
