Yay or nay?

Received a group text earlier about a surprise birthday party for an adult woman.

After replying that the wife and I would be able to make it Saturday, I immediately received a "whatcha cooking for the party" text from the husband hosting the party.

Kinda rubbed me the wrong way.Now I don't mind cooking but a little more advanced notice would've been nice.

Is it ok to host a party and then ask all of your guest to supply/cook the food and drinks?

Lots of factors involved in the etiquette here.

How big a party, how well you know them, any relation? Is he a shite cook or are you just a good one?

No. You were invited to a party. You’re the guest. No need to bring food. This is such a millennial and gen Z thing to do.

Tell him that you will order some catering, like he should be doing.

Specifically a 100 count Chick-fil-A tray

1.) how close friends are you?
2.) he should have asked if you wouldn’t have minded cooking something.

Just from that number my response would be asking what are we all cooking together.

I will group cook a jambalaya with him, but I'm not sacrificing my day to be a personal chef.
