Liquor before beer, you're in the clear.

You drinkers ever test this? It's been years since I have, but, if I remember correctly, it wasn't necessarily true. Something brought it to mind last night, though. After a six pack, I started to make myself a vodka and cranberry, but decided against it after recalling this saying.

If a six pack of beer and a vodka cranberry would have made you sick, you're a serious lightweight.

If you drink a 12 pack and have 4 on the other hand...

It's liquor before beer, never fear.

And those saying are mumbo jumbo.

I drink vodka shots and beer together often. Shot, beer, shot, beer....

That myth may apply to wines and fruity dranks

It's just the fact that beer is lower in ABV, so if you get drunk on beer and then start drinking liquor, you're bound to over-drink.

I think it mainly has to do with the fact that your going from weaker drinks to stronger ones with the beer to liquor scenario. It far easier after having some alcohol on board from beer to just be sucking down mixed drinks. Its far easier to then not realize how much the liquor is hitting you and then it ends with you chillin out with a toilet/garbage can all night.

Where as going from liquor to beer you per drink basis slowing down your alcohol intake (unless your drink weak mixed drinks). Sure you still could drink to much beer after some liquor drinks but that's much harder to do given how beer fills you up.

However I find the hangover is far better after sticking to just one alcohol for the nights whatever your choice may have been between liquor wine or beer.

Of course its not NECESSARILY true but it is true to an extent i like to think. If you drink hard liqour before beer you're going from high EtOH content to less. So you're going from sprinting to a jog.

On the other hand you're going from low to high.

Drink hard liquor first, taper off with beer. I've got a little experience in this area

I thinks it's more a testament to the level of alcohol of both. Beer has a much lower percentage of alcohol in it, thus making it safer to end the night on. When you're already drunk/buzzed, knowing your limit becomes more skewed, thus leading to toilet-time when ending the night on liquor.

It's also the sugar found within most people's liquor drinks.

From what I understand, based off an article I read years ago, is that it has something to do with the alcohol from the beer kind of slowly hitting you while you're only drinking beer. However, when you drink all that beer and then drink a liquor drink it somehow speeds up all that previous alcohol that was slowly being put into the bloodstream.
